  • pobby , the way i see it there is a wall of money out there , it needs a home , at the moment its divided .

sentiment is also divided , as you know already , the markets always over price and then over correct , i believe the housing market needs this adjustment , the debt situation is carried more by the younger lower wage earner , not the type to invest .

once sentiment moves , hopefully against the housing market then panic will set in , homes will be lost , the rental market will force the issue and prices will drop dramatically .

im old enough to remember 15% interest rates and empty houses for rent .

interestingly , i recently claimed for mis-selling against my ifa for an endowment policy . i was provided with my financial history , 7 years ago i had a mortgage with the halifax , i was paying 7.35% interest , ok it was a fixed deal , but that rate now would kill off many a "home owner"

7 years ago ..... what is that ........ nothing

    interesting times ahead .
  • Nothing for me again this month! I don't hold that much but I buy £50 in bonds a month by DD so maybe something next month!

Indeed.Interesting times ahead.Speaking to a number of people, for one reason or another, they seem to be in their own financial bubble.House price crash,``the government won`t let it happen``What! As if it is any concern of theirs.I don`t recall Mrs.Thatch and crew being worried about negative equity and house repros. In fact they just kept piling on the pain.

``I have an interest only mortgage,it`s £1,200 a month``Again, what`s that all about. To me it is renting from the bank.I am sure it would be better to rent privately,at least you wouldn`t be exposed to rising interest rates.

Imho G.Browns miracle economy is pretty much the same as Thatch`s economic revolution.Free up the lenders, lots of borrowed cash in circulation, people spending
then it all goes horribly wrong!

    Hi All

Another three wins this month. 1 x £100 and 2 x £50. That's a total of £800 since our first draw in November last year. I must be on a good return compared to interest rate from a bank (just under £20,000 invested)?

    100 September

    50 (x2) September

    50 (x2) August 2006

    50 July 2006

    50 May 2006

    50 (x2) March 2006

    100 February 2006

    50 February 2006

    50 (x2) January 2006

    50 December 2005

    Regards, Paul

When did you open the bonds, out of interest??

At 4.75% AER you should get £950 per annum. As you've still got the Oct and Nov draws to go till it's a full year, there's a chance you'll break even ;) Probably worth it and you may strike it lucky :D

I've recently started buying bonds. (over a 3 year period)

Actually there are 4 of us who buy them as a sort of syndicate, we each put money in a kitty and when there is £100 we take turns to buy. Our combined holding is now around £3700. but we have only won 3 times over the 3 years each time has been £50.

    I won £50 this month.

    The fella won a £50 and a £100.

    :)
  • Premium Bonds - what a complete waste of time!

£24000 in premium bonds and what have i won so far this year- just £200 quid!

with this amount invested - what happend to the theory that i should win at least £50 each month for 9 months of the year?

Thinking of pulling the money out and extending the house - im sure this will generate a better return when it comes to sell or rent out!

    Hi

I invested the majority of it in November last year, December being the first draw. I invest £150 per month also.

Thanks for the AER advice. As you say, two months still to go so I could break even or win the big one. As a bonus, whilst the money is invested in bonds my excitememt levels rise approaching the start of every new month. If I don't win enough to retire on then theres always next month to look forward to. Something to keep me going

But in a savings account this would reduce to £760 if you're a basic rate taxpayer (£570 for higher-rate).

With average luck, you should expect £600-650 for this year - better deal the more tax you pay...

Looks like they are giving away more prizes to tempt new investors/more money.
