I've had a small holding of £100 for about 18 months. I won £50 in July, now they are sending me letters saying "What does it feel like to be a winner, why not buy some more bonds". It really made me wonder whether I had won (on purpose) in order to encourage me to buy some more. I was just about to cash in the bonds when I had my win, now I am hanging on to them for a bit longer.

congrats to everyone whos won so far I've had £100 for about a year now and havn't won anything, I'm going to increase it to £1000 (just got a bonus) for the 2 big draws then if I havn't won anything by July next year I'll take it out & stick it in a ISA instead.

Congrats.:T I remember what it felt like to win my first premium bond prize, as I won my first in July this year (£50).
EDIT: I've just checked my bonds online and I've won £50 for October! :jMy winning bond came from a block of £500.

£25,000 in since last Nov and total winnings so far £300! Am I the only one who shouts at the TV when Alan Sugar is on the screen.
Time to switch I think.0 -
Alan needs to think about the contradictions between him advertising index-linked savings certificates & premium bonds.
"I'm no gambler....... [except with inflation]"
As for his fee for the ad going to charity - that still leaves him the 40% tax relief on what I'm sure is a very hefty contribution.
So in practice he's only giving up 1/3 of his fee since after tax he would only have pocketed 60% (rather than the current 40%).
Still - think of the future earnings power from enhancing his reputation in this way  .
