One other point I would like to mention.

My father died and his bonds had to be cashed in. The month before they were cashed in his bonds won £200.

My mother died a year later and exactly the same happened - £200

Then, my friends wife died and EXACTLY the same happened to him - £200 again.

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Hi AuntyJean - I have! My father had the maximum holding of PBs and had quite a few wins, but his biggest win was £500, which was after he died. They can be held for up to a year after the owner's death and the win was shortly before the year ended.

The vast majority of bonds have been bought since the million pound (and two million pound) prizes were introduced, so surprise surprise more new bonds win, because the vast majority of the numbers are new. Somebody with about £17 of bonds bought in the 60s won one of the £1m prizes a couple of years back.QUOTE]

That's a very good point Gordon. And, a lot of new bonds would have been purchased when the maximum holding was increased from £20k to £30k.

I seem to remember that someone won a large prize (although not £1m) last month with a small holding purchased in the 60s too.

Why isn't this thread on the gambling forum?

Because the gambling introductory offers forum isn't about gambling :)

I've got £1000 but not won anything for 3 years now. :(

Is it worth cashing and reinvesting or just leaving it? Methinks I'll pop in another £500 cash and if nothing by the November draw then I'll take it and dump it in my 4.75% AER savings
