Hi Natz, congratulations on a promising start. Always a relief to win first off; happened to me when I started with £2000, long ago. Have had £30,0000 for while now. Good luck in future.0 -
I wonder if early winnings makes us more inclined to keep hold of our bonds. We certainly did well in the first couple of years, and we invested £3000 in one lump. If you had bonds that didn't win in the first years you would perhaps be more inclined to view it as a bad place for your money to be. It has to be remembered that stocks and shares can go down dramatically as well as up. To my mind the return has been good for us and the other type of savings let us down. That means a straight choice between isas and bonds. I like to take my chances on a few bonds myself. Congratulations Natz and long may it continue!0

You have a point there, mayb. My first 2months with £2000 won £50 per month, and after that, as I built up steadily so did the winnings. Small but multiple wins and very regular. Done well in the 2-3 years since having £30000, eg £2700 in the past 6months, inc. 3 £500s.0 -
That and the fun of it is what I hope for out of my PB's - they have yet to lose me money and I hope to build up my holding by and by. How much did you ivest each year notadamsmith? I have put in another £500 since I bought the first batch but don't have much to add this year as I must concentrate of saving to pay off the mortgage first.0

mayb, it was irregular, just via reinvestment and modest earnings; then when my dad (a non-property owner, just some modest savings) died, I added £10,000 to make it to the then max of £20,000. Then the Gov upped it to £30,000, to my despair because I was hoping for additional income, and my husband about to retire gave me the final£10k. Husband admits I've done nicely but he won't own any PBs because he says he wouldn't win! BTW I always offer him my winnings but he won't take them.
Good luck to you. And it is fun when you win.0 -
£50 for me this month - my first of the year. I've got just over £5k so should get another 2 this year in theory.FIRE !!!0

I've won £50 this month. I started paying £50 by standing order just over two years ago and this is my first win, so not bad!

hi everyone, just read on a website that nsandi are looking to scrap the conventional way of distributing prizes, they are looking to scrap the posted cheques in favour of winnings being paid direct into your bank account (best savings rates website within the news section) anyone heard anything about this?0
