I see someone just won £100,000 with a £10 total holding - that's why I stay with premium bonds, that could be me one day!!

I have a £10 holding, which has been there since 1964, but it wasn't me:confused: . I did win 500.00 with it, about 3 years ago.

DS has 2170 of bonds, and has just received another win of £50.00, which we have re-invested. He seems to get 1 50.00 per year.

Nobody on MSE hates PB's. The point is PB's are fine as a bit of fun and/or if you are a high rate tax-payer who has maxed out their ISA. However, on average PB's are a poor investment and should not be considered as a good money saving strategy, which this site is all about!
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

yada,yada,yada......... do you honestly believe that people who have amassed comfortable savings dont know the pro's and cons of p.bonds before they buy them? i enjoy checking my numbers every month to see how much i may have won, you obviously enjoy knowing that 5-6.5% has been added to your savings every year...why dont you just let people have their fun without drowning on about some interest they may or may not miss out on every month. :lipsrseal

Clearly you are on the wrong website. This is the money saving expert website. Sorry if it bores you but the whole point is to maximise our savings and minimise our costs. I think it is important that people understand PB's are a poor method of saving.

Unfortunately, I do believe that many people put money into PB's who are not aware of the pros and cons. PB's are by far the biggest selling saving product in the market. Based on the law of averages, this means that many people have PB's as their only form of savings, which is just plain stupid.

With regard to the yada, yada, yada, if you really think PB's are so much fun, I would suggest you get a life....

I've just checked to see whether I've won anything this month and it only shows March winners - April winners aren't on yet (they normally take a couple of days).
  • Higher winners for April have been posted this morning by CGG and are a bit higher up on this thread, about 7.56am I think.
