Best way to buy bonds is to use cheque at the post office counter on the last possible post office working day of the month....that way you buy the bonds at the best possible time knowing you must hold them for a month before they enter the draw, and since the cheque takes a few days to clear (in true mse fashion!!) you get an extra few days interest while your money sits in your account...!
Yes I think you are right. However inconvenient this might be, it is probably the way forward.
But I will see how the situation resolves itself over the next few days and especially how the players conduct themselves.0 -

Excellent idea - much appreciated.
I really cannot recall the last time I wrote a cheque. Will use this method for my next purchase. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Its generally safer too.....if you 'can' sneakily peak around into the counter area, assuming the monitor is at a good angle, you can see the info they scan from the App form and then tap in is exactly the same as you would enter online or over the phone, most of it is automated once they enter the holder number... You get a receipt for the cheque payment on the spot (which might I add/highlight must be made payable to Post Office Ltd, and not NS&I as you would if using the postal method) and its stamped for that day as fully purchased.
Guess those queues are going to be that little bit busier now.
Dont dispose of the receipt until the bonds physically arrive.
Make sure your cheque isnt the rubber bouncing kind, and you should be all good...!Good luck....
Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0 -

2 x £50 again for me, I'm happy with that.
I bought the full holding in August and so far have won a total of £400 over the last 3 draws.Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
I had about £300 worth of bonds which my grandparents bought me. I probably won £50 about 5 times in my life. I have now sold the bonds as I realised that it is not really a great investment as I can make more money from interest by putting hte £300 into a savings account. Bonds are basically like the national lottery only with a lesser chance of winning anything substantial.0
