Best tin opener
Comments

Just had a nasty battle with a 'posh' can opener that OH insisted we buy and a can of beans. I resorted to digging out the old butterfly type (which he said he'd thrown away) - best by far. I had an electric one once, couldn't get on with that either.0

I second that, best can opener I ever had
they're worth every penny & you save in the long run because you spend less than you would on constantly buying replacements for the ones that don't work
& they save all the frustration & rage too
And I third that, I have the stainless steel Brabantia one, and its brilliant, well worth the extra cash x

I recommend the Culinaire OneTouch automatic one. I got one for my Mum, and it has never failed to open a can yet.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I have a Lift Off can opener-same idea as a Magican. It cuts through the side of the tin and lifts off the whole lid-no more lids falling into the tin! It's at least ten years old, and has faded to a horrible grey/pink in the dishwasher (from an original bright red), but it still opens tins first time, every time.
Haven't used this site, but they have a picture of one here:

Having struggled with collapsing tins/useless can openers, I have gone back to the old style sharped hook type - 99p off the market and works great every time.
The market stall man told me that the old style type are his best sellers as apparently tins are now being made of softer steel nowadays which is why they bend and buckle.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

wish i had seen this thread before - wouldnt have wasted so much money!!
my trusty tin opener broke last week (bought about 5 years ago from Kleeneze) so sent OH to wilkinsons - fair play he bought the expensive (£2.99) one - well!!! after twenty minutes my can of peas was only a quarter open! OH tried and twenty minutes later it was nearly half open - enough anyway to get peas out. by which time the fish was really overcooked!
took it back and got replacement.........that one didnt work either and somehow the reciept got lost! grrrrrrrrrr
bought one in asda.............kept reciept............good job i did........thats going back too!
I cant use the butterfly ones - tendon damage in right hand! so its going to be the magician one for me based on posters recommendations! thanks!!!0 -
I have a Good Grips one (an earlier version of this one) and it's never failed :j
For camping we use one of these - tricky to get used to but fab for its size
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the exisitng thread to give you more suggestions.
