I have kitchen rage.
Tins, ring pulls, jar and bottle tops all conspire to defeat me despite having the necessary equipment to tackle these things. I'm thinking of getting a small vice fitted to the end of a worktop to hold things while I attack them.:rotfl:Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.0 -
I have a fabulous but expensive tin opener which kind of disects the tin and there are no sharp edges. Only tin I sometimes have a problem with is corned beef tins. Even though its expensive I recommend it and I'm a cheap skate!0

This is the beast - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brabantia-Classic-White-Hand-Opener/dp/B0002HPJ0C/ref=sr_1_54?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1257416928&sr=1-54
Our one is at least ten years old and still working fine. OK so you might balk at the price but I would say its worth the money.
they're worth every penny & you save in the long run because you spend less than you would on constantly buying replacements for the ones that don't work
& they save all the frustration & rage too
EDIT ... if you baulk at the expense of the Brabantia one, the Oxo Good Grips one is pretty good for around half the price0 -
Whereas my problem is ring pull cat food cans
I have 2 on the side to return to Sainsburys at the weekend and I can't get my trusty butterfly can opener to rescue me0 -
Me and oh have the tin opener discussion regularly. I remember my mam having the same butterfly tin open for years and years, we go through them like no ones business, I think these days they designed to fail after a few weeks. I think I will invest in one of the recommend ones on here.0

Bought an impressive looking tin opener but could not get it to work correctly so I bought a butterfly tin opener and it fell to pieces the first time I tried to open a tin. In the end I got the Culinaire Magican and that is ideal.0
