Another vote for the Magican here.
I don't like the ring-pull cans at all. I find them awkward to open, awkward to drain, and always end up with splatters from them.0 -
Another vote for the Brabantia, had mine for over 10 years and I've never had a can I couldnt open with it, Mine actually looks very similar to that picture of the Culinaire one a few posts back!0

I have had my Brabinita one for years, and it works well.Pawpurrs x0

I have bought my Mum one of the Culinare "One Touch" automatic electric ones. It does cut in from the sides, but almost all other openers do the same. You just sit it on top of the can, push the button and it just whirrs around and does the job. It has not failed to open any can yet. I - much to my surprise - am very impressed. Some reviews said it was very noisy. It has an electric motor so it is noisy, but - IMHO - not very noisy. And Mum is hard of hearing anyway. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I have to use a spoon to lift the ring pull then break a nai pulling it off.. unless the ring comes off and I end up getting the magican out anyway!
The edges aren't sharp really.. in fact less sharp than one the chops out the lids I have never cut myself on one of these and if you squeeze he tin slightly the lid still slots in.. and doesn't fall out in the recycling!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
You can get things to help pull off ring can tops - again, my Mum has one. Also, please note that, if they have a rim, the bottom of ring pull cans are the same as the top of "normal" cans. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I have this very ancient tin opener, it has a wooden handle and what amounts to a sharp pointy bit, that you pierce the lid of a can with, then dig it in and work your way around the lid until it's all wavy and the lid twists off.
It affectionately goes by the name of 'lethal weapon' in this house and under normal circumstances it lives at the very back of the junk drawer. However, it re-surfaces everytime a modern tin-opener gives up the ghost!
I've had it for 18 years that I can remember, but haven't a cloo where the heck I got it from! I know I should dump it, but just know that as soon as I do that, my current tin-opener would pack in altogether and I'd be stuck.0 -

Yeah but you can't really turn the can upside-down after you get the first little bit open with the ring-pull and then the ring comes off!0 -
i'm a good grips girl, that range has never let me down, especially the tin opener!
