Help please with ironing sheets (merged)

I too avoid the evil ironing if I can avoid it at all. As long as things get taken out of the wm and hung up promptly then they don't tend to be too bad, even jeans.
However work kindly imposed a new uniform on us this past couple of weeks, and it includes a shirt which has to be ironed. Ugh I can't believe it!!! Last time I ironed a shirt it was for a boyfriend....I made such a rubbish job of it, eg two creases down each sleeve and across the shoulders he actually decided he should do it himself. I am going to look a bit of a scruff ball at work, but I don't care!
Ironing sheets is never going to happen....0 -
lucylou wrote:thanks everyone for you replies it really seems that the majority of the people here do not iron ........I think I'll have to start doing the same .unfortunately I don't have a trouser press but if anyone has one I'd be very willing to send all my sheets to them.thanks a lot in advance to those who will do this;)
maybe we should have a poll to see who does the ironing.how do you do a poll on here?anyone know?

Actually where I come from (upt North)Keks are trousers.
Shreddies are pants.
As for ironing, I iron pot towels what can I say. I have got better though and do not always iron the fitted sheet but I most definately have to iron the duvet cover, trust me having a six foot bed makes matters even harder. So to make life easier I have three sets of bedding and my bedding gets changed every four months whether it needs it or not.
As to the person who irons for one hour a week.
I am chained to the ironing board, when not chained to the pc of course. Actually I really have to be in the mood for ironing usually by this time, I have a good 12 hours worth or ironing and thats with a steam generator (Best £230 ever spent).
I get up to date with my ironing and tell myself I am going to keep up and bingo back to square one. Came back from 3 weeks in Florida without an ounce or ironing. (Trick is to only take enough clothes for a week and keep on top of it there) but now my ironing pile is once again resembling Mount Etna.
Tomorrow I will do some I promise.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

I 'second' the steam generator (although mine was only £100), it cuts ironing time in half. It means I can wiz through my mountains of 4 x 4 x 7 shirts a week in much less time.
I've tried the non-iron school shirts but still find I can't bear to see them not properly ironed, although when desparate the kids go to school without them ironed and don't look too scruffy.

I agree with you Jay, I have tried to fold the kids t-shirts when they come out of the tumble drier but they just do not have the neat look of an ironed one. I even iron my hubbies and sons boxers. I got my steam generator a few years ago before the prices started to come down, however, I recently had a replacement for it (under warranty) and this particular model was still £200.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

A friend just called round whilst I was doing the ironing and practically had hysterics because I was ironing sheets. (I just love to climb into bed with nice crisp, smooth sheets) Is it that unusual or do I need therapy? Do you iron yours???Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly!0

Ironed four beds worth (1 double, 3 single) this morning while listening to radio2. I would never put sheets on the bed un-ironed (my mother thinks I'm mad) LOLLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

I don't iron mine unless thay are completely screwed up. I iron the boys bedding if I have time, because single is so much easier than super-kingsize
Also, my duvet is faux suede and is a bu99er to iron - so that's why I tumble dry it.
However, my mum irons all hers - which means I get to iron hers too0 -
I iron mine too. You can't beat getting into a fresh bed. Sheets that have been dried on the line and ironed.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I confess that I always iron my quilt covers and pillowcases as I think they feel nicer. I never bother with the underneath fitted sheets though as the creases mostly pull out when you stretch them over the mattress.0
