Help please with ironing sheets (merged)

I too in the past (when potential buyers were coming to view the house) have ironed the duvet cover on the bed
It's actually quite easy with a cordless iron on a low heat setting
The only reason I iron sheets etc is to get them flat enough to fit in the airing cupboard although I do give towels a quick glance over as it fluffs them up a bit.
Have found ironing technique is greatly enhance by a glass or two of wine and something decent to watch on telly at same time (although not too decent or I start watching more than ironing!)0 -
What's ironing?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I have never ironed bedding.
My percale sheets (after umpteen years) have worn through. I did do the cut in half and sew the outside in, on one of the sheets, but never got round to the others....
Anyway , got a couple of new ones last Christmas ( was on list of suggestions for Christmas!!) but the quality is different and if I tumble them too long they come out a scumple rumpled heap. Still didn't iron...just stretched over bed, and try harder to get them out side and dried there...much nicer!!!!
i do have an iron.... only used in emergencies. :-)0 -
Ive never ironed bedding either. Id be happy to have clean ones! Stupid house needs a washing machine. Im taking everything I own today though, I cant wait for fresh sheets on the bed. Might have to kick boyf out though, im getting a bit like that advert where the girl shoves the guy out the front door cos she wants the bed to herself!
I do like ironing though, but I dont really have enough to iron, years of being a student means nothing I own needs ironing, and I cant be botheres to pull the whole kit out if Ive only got a couple of shirts to do. Seems so pointless!

I do iron sheets and pillow cases and duvet covers, but I never iron the whole wash at once, just do them as they come off the line. I never iron knickers, vests underpants etc they get folded and put away, do iron tea towels but not towels, they get 20 minutes in the tumble dryer to soften them when they have been dried on the line.
Fold the sheets in four iron both side, and turn inside out and iron both sides again, then fold them up and put them at the bottom of the pile in the airing cupboard sorted..

I have read somewhere a long time ago that ironing certain items actually sterilises them. Towels bedding and even babies terry nappies, tea towels, just to name a few but alas i don't iron any of these  .0
