I think I get that from my Ma.....she even ironed socks and dish cloths.

This is me too! I love a really nice scented bath (especially in the winter to get all warmed up) and then to get into a freshly laundered bed with ironed sheets (especially if they've been blown dry outside and smell fresh). Lovely!!!
I always dry sheets outside even in Winter because even if they don't dry properly they smell fantastic when you bring them in. I once left a quilt cover outside that got snowed on and then blown about. If you could bottle the way it smelt for the next week you would make a fortune. I lay in bed each night and could smell fresh snow and it was GORGEOUS!0 -

I absolutely totally agree and i'm only 41 :eek:0 -
I don't bother ironing sheets. We lay on 'em, they get creased, or our body heat decreases them, depending on your point of view.
As for the duvet cover, the dog lollops all over it, so I don't worry about ironing, so much as dehairing.
Yup, I often leave my washing out overnight too, if it's been raining, and it smells GREAT when it comes in.
And actually, I find the best way to iron sheets is a darn good blow on a windy day.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I use my husbands trouser press to iron the sheets, it really works well, just fold the sheet in half lengthways, half again and half again, put half of it in and turn it on, then turn the sheet round and do the other half, but Duvet covers are too thick for the trouser press, so I have to iron them, unfortunatley for me I like a tidy looking bed, but I only do one side, the one that shows!
Hope it helps you, just depends I suppose if you have a trouser press.Make it happen (old signature)

Erm.....Iron? I think I had one once, maybe it was a wedding present from a elderly relative? Can't remember what happened to it though....?
If you're really desperate find soemone who's going to a hotel & give them as much linen & clothing as they can carry to stick in the trouser press, you'd be suprised what you can press in those gadgets:rotfl:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

I hate ironing so for years, when I worked full time, I sent it out to a lovely lady to do it for me. She came and picked it up, ironed it and then brought it all back on hangers or folded ready to be put away!
I use an old fasioned heavy metal iron as a doorstop and when my DS1 was at nursery they showed him a picture of an iron and he had to say what it was. The teacher thought it was really strange that he kept saying it was a doorstop - he had never seen a real iron in action! :rotfl:
Seriously, though, what with so many people hating ironing / too busy to iron, I would think running an ironing business from home would be quite a lucrative side line!0 -
buy good quality poly cotton + percale sheets which don't crease in the wash mach.
Ideally wash, dry and put fitted sheet straight on the bed, so it doesn't get creased from being folded in the cupbd.0 -
thanks everyone for you replies it really seems that the majority of the people here do not iron ........I think I'll have to start doing the same .unfortunately I don't have a trouser press but if anyone has one I'd be very willing to send all my sheets to them.thanks a lot in advance to those who will do this;)
maybe we should have a poll to see who does the ironing.how do you do a poll on here?anyone know?
