  • I used to iron duvet covers.

Got them all nicely crisp and neat. Then I used to spend about half an hour trying to wrestle the duvet into the cover. Sometimes I ended up inside the cover with the duvet trying to get the corners to fit. By the time I'd finished, the cover was creased to bits. I don't iron them any more but if anybody knows a good tip to get a duvet into a cover without a major struggle I would be very grateful and might even start ironing them again.

I struggle with putting on duvet covers. It might be because I am only 5ft 4in tall.

Anyway I picked up a tip years ago. Turn the duvet cover inside out. Put your arms up inside and then grab the corners of the duvet and then shake it should put the cover on a little bit better.

This is the method I use , it makes life so much easier, once you get the quilt into the cover and the fastenings done up grab both bottom corners and give a couple of hard shakes, then do the same with the sides, result, perfect covers on the duvet.

I use this method too with a variation for double/king sized quilts which i find are too large to shake down.

Put hand inside quilt - grab one corner of quilt and turn to right side

Peg quilt to cover and repeat for other corner and the side of the quilt.

When all is turned right side out the pegs hold the quilt to the top of the cover so you don't "lose" it and the cover can safely be pulled down to be fastened at the bottom.

Hope this makes sense, I have had three attempts at writing it!

Not ironing is the solution LOL

I have a great tumble dryer (GAS) and everything that can be dried in it is, then they are shaken...shirts are ironed (not by me I hasten to add) underwear, towels, tea towels, bedding are put away folded but not ironed.
