Morning all. Bit late on here this morning because DH is working but didn't need to start until 9 so has only just left. He takes days to get ready because he is so forgetful. This time he came back for his flask even though I left it where he almost tripped up on it by the front door!

SMOKY - thinking of you and the LOs. Hope you are getting some sleep.

(((Hugs))) to all those who have had disasters over the last 24 hours! It's seems that applies to lots of you!.

ANNIEBOOKLOVER - we love 'Everybody Loves Raymond'! Don't normally like American comedies (apart from Cheers). I could smack that MIL in the face most days!

DONNY-GAL - yes, I'm listening to RA as I type!

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, although it's supposed to be a bank holiday, I seem to have loads to do. We've run out of cakes so I have to do some baking, DH has requested HM beefburgers with salad and we have strawberries for pudding so that's a fair bit of food prep (well, it is when you don't feel like standing by the sink for hours!), I have two loads of washing, some ironing and some paperwork and all I want to do is spend the day between mooching around on here and knitting!

Yesterday disappeared in a stream of visitors and constant cuppas, DS2 and his GF came round - DS2 'affectionately' tweaked DH's nose while they were larking around and now DH has a big pink/purple bruise right on the end of his nose! When I noticed it, I thought it was hysterical and couldn't stop laughing. I told him he looked like Mr Punch from Punch and Judy and we all ended up laughing till we cried! I suppose you had to be there but poor DH has gone off with the sort of mark on his nose that anyone he talks to won't be able to keep their eyes off! A good laugh does you the power of good, doesn't it?

FIL actually had his triple heart bypass on Saturday (in Cyprus so no waiting list and it was on their NHS!) and 24 hours later he is up and talking! The change in his voice is amazing - I honestly think he didn't expect to make it through. He is still in intensive care but physio will get him up and about from tomorrow and then he should be allowed home in about two weeks.

It seems to have been all 'go' here so, once I've done all the chores on my list, I intend to sit and do some knitting.

Did you all catch the last 'Lark Rise' last night? What a lovely ending - I was waiting for them to kill someone off in a horrible shocking way (well, I know Zilla died but she died happy) so it was great to have that sort of ending. I shall miss it; I've really enoyed the series although I'm sure the sun didn't shine ALL the time, even back then!

Well, I'm waffling on as though I haven't got a list of chores as long as my arm so I'd better go and get some of them done.

Will drop by later - hope everyone has a good bank holiday.

  • Morning all, it's snowing hard here again but not settling, thank goodness.

    Hugs to Smokey

Mioliere, I saw Lark Rise last night, I'm with you, I've really enjoyed the series and was glad it had a happy ending :D . I'm also listening to RA on the radio :p

We had a lovely Easter Day, drove through the snow to my mum's where my two sisters were also there, and they had prepared a lovely buffet lunch (courtesy of M&S though!). I'd taken the puds (HM of course!!) which went down very well. The snow had melted by the time we came home which I was glad about since I'm not fond of driving on snowy roads.

Unfortunately I think my two solid days of driving have affected my neck and I've woken up with a very painful neck and shoulder on one side. I've dosed it with ibuprofen gel and will get at it with the neck massager later. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Going to have a quiet day since OH is working again:mad: on the laptop but I have some sewing to do and would love to join in knitting a square if (a) I had any wool :o and (b) if I could knit straight. Might have a browse through my odds and s*ds box to see if I have any old knitting needles around anyway.

Going to make individual pizzas for lunch using up some ciabatta rolls taking up room in the freezer and then chicken korma for dinner.

    Have a peaceful day everyone.

Squiggly Diddly - be very very careful with ex. Last year I let mine stay for a bit to sort himself out - took me about 5 minutes to remember why we had split up in the first place and could't get rid for months - it was very hard for dd11 who had to do the whole split up thing again even though we weren't in a relationship. A year on he is still living with his mum and skint despite taking home over 3 grand per month.

Thanks Stef, I know, there's no way he's actually moving back in though, I find myself wanting to kill him most of the time anyway. I could fill a whole page with the ongoing saga but will spare you all that, lol! Been 7 years snce we split though..!! We've had about 4 years of this hassle since he got together with she-devil ; he's never been happy with her, she controls all his money, doesn't want the kids round there etc. He earns £440 a week (i discovered a couple of days ago) yet is always completely skint too & neglected to mention it as our maintenance hasn't gone up in 2 years... Makes me cross cos it's not me who she thinks he's depriving.... It will benefit kids if he moves out, but he seems completely incapable of finding out information on his own even. He had kids yesterday morning, then is still phoning in afternoon (when we are spending time with family & having diner) to ask oldest DD "can you find out details of epilepsy support group as I need to meet more people" - he hasn't had a fit for coming up 10 years..... then another phone call "can you go on Friends Reunited & create a profile, can I come round tomorrow and do some more with you".. then DD treats me like carp when I get cross about it & have said no.... He just guilt-trips everyone all the time & I get stuck with flak from kids who are caught in the middle.

Sorry to rant.... I am sitting in my bed still, feel really miserable & utterly fed-up with this. I just want to move us miles away so at least he can't keep popping up all the time. I've had conversations with him about not keep phoning (and asking who's here!!) all the time, not to keep turning up all the time (with random "gifts" or wanting to mow lawn...) because I don't need it & it's not appropriate..... he just doesn't take on board at all. Just carries on regardless and then I look mean & nasty in front of kids who say "dad's just trying to help you & you don't care...."

This on top of trying to sort out mum's financial problems (63, £10k in debt & only £120 a week coming in - I found that out couple of months ago), cousin who is in abusive/violent relationship (she asked for help couple of weeks ago) and generally the world & his wife are in a queue behind them....

God, no wonder I keep baking & eating stodgy food.... :(

Any suggestions anyone on what I can do......

Sorry again for such a long moan. I know compared to others that is so trivial, but I just feel really miserable this morning.

Morning all it's all lovely and sunny here today but freezing:eek:

SQUIGGLY D your ex OH sounds exactly like mine, but thankfully my DD is nearly 21 and isn't his so he hasn't as much of an excuse to pop round, but the phone calls atc wont stop even after being seperated and divorced for years now:mad:

I am feeling sick of it all and, can't even answer the phone to him right now, even though the plan was to stay friends initially:(

Not sure of my plans today, might pop and see Mum n Dad later, as he's too weak to go out at the mo:(

OS wise I will change the bedding and siwsh around, and maybe do a bit of batch cooking.Need to go shopping for a few bits first though.

(((Hugs))) to all who need them, and have a great Easter Monday everyone:D :D

  • Morning all!

Hope all had good day yesterday and not TOO much choccy indulgence!!:D I did a rare Sunday roast with all trimmings and both DDs took it upon themselves to be out, so ended up with just me and OH!! Never mind, they ate later, eldest at about 4am:eek: judging by the remnants I found in kitchen this morning!

I too loved Larkrise, just so well done-undemanding and gentle. Hope we see more of something similar soon (or even repeats). Did anyone watch the No 1 Detective Agency? I love those books, but felt that the actress playing Precious was too young for the part-though she was very good none the less!!! I thought the secretary was spot on!!:T

Smoky-hope your day was as good as it could have been yesterday (((Hugs))), and don't forget if you are still having sleep problems, call your GP tomorrow-Matron will be checking up on you:eek::eek:;). Hugs to anyone else poorly or just plain fed up.

    Back later,

Thanks Stef, I know, there's no way he's actually moving back in though, I find myself wanting to kill him most of the time anyway.

Rant away - that's what we're here for. Last year it was something that donny-gal said that made me chuck him out once and for all - can't even remember what it was and I bet she can't either - whatever it was I am eternally grateful. We split up nearly four years ago and maintenance hasn't gone up ever - in fact I am expecting it to end in september as I only got any by lying about how much my childcare was and telling him that unless he paid it I wouldn't be able to afford to go to work and would wait and see what the CSA had to say about it. dd goes to high school in spetember so he might realise that she won't need childcare then.

OH redeemed himself this morning and brought me breakfast in bed. We went to a car boot and bought nothing then went to a market and bought some meat and kitchen foil-wow is that it!!! yep that's all we bought. Just having a cuppa and trying to thaw out, then OH is making me a beef sandwich before we head off to work.
Squiggly Diddly, I wish I could help and give you some advice but my ex is not with anyone-and hasn't been since we split up (I don't think) and that was nearly 8 years ago. Then again my DDs are quite headstrong and wouldn't take any truck from anyone. (((hugs))) to you and hope you manage to get sorted.
Right off to drink my cuppa

Its dull this morning but dry, not sure if we are going out all or, I need to have a dust round.............and a hoover especially in our bedroom, the carpet is covered with threads. No matter how hard I try I always seem to get more threads on the carpet than in the bin!!!

    Morning all !

Well, the snow's gone though we did have a little sprinkling last night. Now we've blue skies and sunshine but its bitterly cold.
Still, loads of 'indoor stuff' to do and so far I'm on schedule..............lol Varnished the cupboard I've just painted and hope the cats don't decide to investigate too closely, finished off my sons birthday card and done one for him on behalf of my Mum (if she could have she'd have done one herself so I've tried to make it her sort of choice) ...........
stuff still to do - tie cream ribbon round some bubble bath I've decanted in a wine bottle to put in mmy friends birthday hamper; finish wrapping sons shoe box of bits and bobs ready to post on Wednesday; and tackle my desk which is now overflowing with papers I need to deal with and just general 'stuff'...........regular hot spot its getting to be and I really must do something about it.
It's OH's birthday but he makes no great fuss about it apart from taking himself off to the pub for a pint or several and meet his mates.

Expecting ex foster girl to call in later so need to get on if I'm to finish what I want to get done.............(probablly won't but its not the end of the world is it )

Have a good day, stay warm and hugs ((((((((((:o ))))))))))) to those who need them.
    Mary
