You know you're in trouble when before you go to bed you have to stare at the bedroom floor very hard to imprint a mental map of the obstacles into your brain before switching off the light and heading accross the minefield .... er floor.

<cough> my confessions are more along the line of:
    - never did find out if it was possible to clean rust off those solid top hotplates many modern cookers have. Now bought ceramic top cooker I could have avoided getting if I'd put in more effort cleaning the other one (have trained myself to clean the top of that after use - but I rotate use of the hotplates - so I only have to clean it every 2 or 3 times)

    - never did find out how to get out all those ground-in stains from my (beige) sitting room carpet. It now looks horrible and I'm using a rug to hide a multitude of sins. Thats about to go and be replaced by a coffee-coloured very slightly mottled-y one (I wonder why I chose that colour:D ) - but I know about white vinegar for removing coffee stains now (worked on a treat the other day on another beige carpet when I spilt a cup of coffee over it)

    """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

BTW - Benthosboy - all this virtual "chatting-up" you're doing of us O.S.'ers - have you worked out your definitive list of those of us you'd like to date if we're available yet?
:D (PS: Mine's a dry white wine please if you're buying - and you'll really be in my good books if its organic.)

My washing and ironing are all done, however,

My kitchen floor is only clean because I dropped a plate on it yesterday and had to clear up.

I have a lot of dust in all kinds of colours. I used to try and clean it up, now I do it only when I am in the mood.

My friend Jean says that Flash wipes are cheaper than hiring a cleaner. I am happy to fall into line with this way of thinking.

After finding myself apologising to dh after he looked after ds alone for 3 days when I had flu, I have decided to dispose with guilt. I will do what I am able to do when I am able and willing to do it. I will not feel bad about anything that does not get done.

My MIL's house is filthy. This makes me happy as I have no need to compete.

I have one room full of clutter. This is the room that we shut the door on when the doorbell rings.

Oh, lets see. We had plumbers in on Thursday to fix our leaking toilet and I still haven't put things back where they should be. We reached a point yesterday where we had no teaspoons left and realised we neglected the washing up. I'm down to mismatched socks and t-shirts I've not worn for a few years. And everything needs a good clean.

On the upside I have the next week off work, so today we're just going to run out to my parents house to have a family dinner and come back and start fresh tomorrow :D

  • I'm so please that I am not the only one who is not perfect

Here is my current list of failures :

I am lying in bed with the cat without a duvet cover on the duvet as I put it in the machine yesterday and was too lazy to take it out to dry ....

I lasted one day on the Flylady thread before it all overwhelmed me and I was too ashamed to go back.

A simialr thing happened with the monthly grocery challenge.

I haven't washed any dishes since Friday -- but then I have eaten only things that are either microwaveable or don't need cooking

As everything in house was an "ingredient" gave up and went to Waitrose yesterday.. spent £90.00 on nice low effort food:eek:

All stuff that is not for the fridge / freezer is still in bags in hall ...

I have two "spare" rooms that are actually minefields of junk / clutter

This is a brilliant thread!! I have just sat here and read it all. My 5 yr old keeps saying ' mummy why are you laughing?' He thinks I really have lost it. As soon as OH comes home from work I must make him read this because he gets very cross if I don't keep ontop of everything houseworky- I knew I wasn't alone in my dislike for tidying!!
I didn't want to get out of bed this morning so I told my eldest to open a easter egg and share it with his brother!! They got up at 6.30 I got up at 8!!
We are not dressed yet and I don't plan on it any time soon. OH comes home from work at 6.30pm so we have plenty of time lol!!
Thanks everybody for a lovely start to my sunday x

    What a relief!

I just told DS to leave me alone and watch tv quietly. I declined to listen to her reading a hymn (how on earth did I manage to get a child who is 'above average' in RE? we keep telling her we don't believe, she says "well I do").
    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: unlucky!

How I have laughed reading this thread. I'm not normally a fly lady, in fact I am a silent but not lapsed member of the "good enough club" but reading what hasn't been done instead of what HAS been done for a change has really made my day and put things into perspective for me, thankyou.

My list of confessions goes as follows:

there is washing up in the kitchen...only from last night but the guilt gnome has been on my back about it since I got up.

the bed hasn't been changed for 3 weeks and the sheet is all rucked up (in my defence I do straighten it every night.)

the carpet hasn't been vaccuumed for 2 days and has toast crumbs in most places and breadstick remains in others (weaning baby)

I am so exhausted that aside from not doing any housework, I don't even have the energy to sit and play with my 9 mth old DS and my heart sinks when he wakes up from a nap. (he hasn't slept through the night yet...woke me up 4 times last night.)

My contribution to cleaning the toilet this morning was to peer into it and flush it. It probably got done properly 2 days ago
