Are you serious!? :rotfl:If you get £1400 you need to become a car salesperson.0 -
theres plenty of them on autotrader with more miles on and in worse condition than mine and they want more money for them so why not.

You can ask what you like for yours.
They can ask what they like for theirs.
BUT are they selling for that?0 -
Unfortunately those little Hyundai Amicas depreciate very quickly and don't sell for much. If it went into an auction and two or more people were interested I think it would still struggle to go much beyond £1000, if it even got to £1000 sorry to say.0

Agreed, plus the fact that you can buy a brand new one for under £5000.;)0

Stephb1986, if getting rid is more important than the money you could take a punt on Ebay by listing it with a starting price of 99p and hope 2 people get a bidding war going on. Worst I guess will happen is it doesn't get much interest and goes for a couple hundred.0

Shes on something, a quick at autotrader shows hundreds of the exact same car, many newer for 1k or less0 -
I think there is a tendancy for people to over-value what they have and want to sell, for example they may think of how much they paid and that that was only a few years ago - ...so it *must* be worth £x. Looking at those asking higher amounts reaffirms the belief but unfortunately they probably aren't selling.
I own a Skoda Favorit. I saw one pop up on auto-trader and ebay for £1,995, and I kept an eye on it and on Skoda owners forums most people thought they were asking a bit much, despite the low mileage and apparent good condition. As time went by the price dropped. Last I recall is was £995 I think, but it just goes to show that the value to one person isn't necessarily what someone will pay.0 -

I don't know why people assume that because certain people are asking for stupid money for their cars that they are actually going to sell them.
Obviously you've tried selling it several times, that should awaken you to the fact that you are asking for too much.
My first car I bought privately. It was a 2000 X reg Nissan Micra 1.0 S, had around 55k on the clock I think, possibly less. Seller was asking for £1500, I bought it for around £1300 and only lost £100 when I traded it against the Yaris.
For my second car I wanted a Toyota Yaris, fairly new, preferably more than 1.0. Saw several advertised, all at stupid prices e.g. £6-7k for cars that were more than 2 yrs old and had high mileage. What did I end up with? An 06 Toyota Yaris 1.3 T3 3 door for £7k, bought it in 07 so it was a few months old with around 11k mileage from an independent supplier.
What did I learn? Be wary of private sellers, there are far too many misguided fools that don't know what their cars are really worth.0
