Tesco- Easter is over

I want to say I can't believe someone would complain about the lack of easter eggs, but sadly I can believe it as I used to work on Customer Services at Asda. It's easter, i'm sure Asda/Tesco etc will all be closed tomorrow from anywhere between maybe 6pm & 10pm tonight! Trust me, people panic when stores close for 24hrs & some will buy trolleys full of eggs, not ONE but anywhere up to 50ish.
I imagine the store went on last years demand maybe, no matter how many they get in, once they're gone they're gone, everything runs out in the end, even if they get thousands in, if thousands are bought, tough to #1001.
It's good as someone said as they seem to have got in the right amount, there's always gonna be either way too many left over left taking up room in the warehouse & wasted off or not enough, nobody can guess bang on. Leaving it to the last minute does guarantee stuff may be all gone, but that's the same with everything.
As to whoever took the shopping, chances are as soon as the owner got home they realised & called the store. If it was Asda, if it'd been handed in we'd have kept it for so long (Like until the end of the day or a few hours) then logged it & put it back out. Therefore when the customer calls us we could have said yes Mr/Mrs xxx we have those easter eggs/ xxx please come to get them.
Customers almost always phone in & because you took what wasn't yours, the customer service desk person would probably have got an earful about how they should replace everything etc & the customer won't have got what they paid for, which could have taken all their money up or been for their grandkids or something important (Or it coulda been the last egg on the shelf!) so, because of one greedy person, two people may suffer.
It gets me how many people say oo well Tesco make money from selling it & keeping it when most claim it & these same people will dump fresh & frozen stuff under checkouts or round the store & lose the stores money in that way, it all evens out. Doesn't change the fact that it wasn't yours/g-f's (Sorry didn't see who) to take & how you'd feel if you say bought the kids something & maybe had promised them & left it by accident, called up & it'd been taken. Too many people just see it as licence to steal.
Sorry rant over, I know I ramble I just get mad!0 -

Yeah...That or theft by finding...Bought, not Brought0 -
I'm wondering, what did the op expect the person at the customer service desk to do/say?
Also UKTigerlily is right & I wonder how many people know this. Everytime someone takes a product from a chilled or frozen section and later decides they want something else & just dumps it where they've found this new product, that the original item has to be written off because no one will know how long it's been out of a controlled temperature.
I use to hate people who use to dump stuff when I worked it retail because they've found something else they want instead, lazy !!!!!!!s!0 -
Sorry you didn't get your eggs in time OP, better planning next time maybe?
With regard to the person who took the easter eggs, then, I think its sad that you felt you had the right to do so. I had a bag full of fruit and veg delivered to me by mistake this week by Sainsbugs (had monthly order so it took me about 20 mins to unpack, by which time driver was long gone). The first thing I did was put the whole bag in the fridge to stop it perishing and ring Sainsbugs and let them know. I expected them to send the driver back as he couldn't have been too far, but they said to keep it. I've ended up giving it to my mum and sister, as OH and I won't use it all, but I still think about the poor person who didn't get their broccoli etc! I couldn't have kept it knowing that I hadn't tried to give it back to Sainsbugs/reported it.Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!0 -

Just wondering what happens if you see a non-lazy person returning an item to its proper location? Do you know how long that has been out of a controlled temperature? Should the chilled and frozen sections have intelligent surveillance cameras to alert staff to remove replaced items?0 -

What is theft? Has Blacksheep ever taken a pen from work and used it at home? If I a person is given too much change, say for a twenty pound note instead of a tenner, would you keep the change if it was a supermarket or have a different answer if it was a local shop? If you found a purse in the street with no name and address and fifty pounds in cash? or if you saw a numptie leave half their goods in the trolley, would you shout them back. Lady Freda went and put her trolley back, collected her £1 and in another trolley was a £15 egg, and no one else about! Now, would you still take the pen from work, because the same, it is still theft!
Personally, I buy pens and no, have never taken any from work, Uni or otherwise. I have frequently rectified shop mistakes in both small and large stores. I have found a purse, and taken it back to its owner complete with contents. I have found £70 in various shopping vouchers on a supermarket carpark and placed ad's in the local shops to say they had been found. They were never claimed but it was almost 12 months later before I used them.
If I saw someone leave something, yes, I would shout them back.
And if I found a £15 egg I would, like everyone else on this thread, hand it in to CS.
I have a clear conscience, I am not a dishonest person because I was raised to respect other people and their property.
And yes, I sleep very well at night.0 -

If the case is they're still shopping and change their minds they probably only picked the item up a few minutes ago so it won't matter.0 -

My tesco on friday didnt have much left either. My mum was upset they didnt have mini eggs (we agreed no chocolate for each other and now mum has gone back on that and bought us all chocolate, lol). But we didnt mind, we knew we were leaving it late! Woolworths still had loads though.
I dont get people who complain about this kind of thing. When I used to work at Comet the amount of time wed get people complaining about things (like Wii's / xbox 360s) selling out on Christmas eve. The usual speel came 'youve wrecked my christmas, blah blah blah'.
Worst one was when I worked at the local ski center and was on closing shift on reception on xmas eve. Reception shut at 4:30 and center shut at 5:00, big signs up for weeks advertising this and big 'We are sorry but reception is now closed, we hope you have a merry christmas and look forward to seeing you on boxing day when we are open 10 - 4'.
Its 4:45, Im in the back office (with a small window looking onto reception, so they know Im in there as they can see the light on and here me cashing up). Im just about done, all machines shut down and just checking my figures against the computer. I hear someone knocking on reception. I think its a member of staff so chose to ignore it as theyre being lazy and they can come through if they want. Then someone starts shouting that they know Im in there. Realising its not staff I pop my head out. I apologise and explain were now closed and point at the sign. Customer repeats she needs gift vouchers, I explain I cant put it through as the system is shut down.
She then goes nuts and screams that she needs £200 in gift vouchers else her son will get NO christmas present, apparently this is all he wanted for christmas. She shouts and shouts for about 10 minutes before the manager spots her on the camera (he was helping in the bar) and comes to investigate. I leave it to the manager to tell her to sod off.
Who on earth leaves buying their sons ONLY christmas present till 4:45 on christmas eve?!?!?!
I understand if you sometimes have to pick up last minute gifts, but dont complain at the staff as its no one elses fault but yourself!Green and White Barmy Army!0
