He chose Eva Cassidy - Over The Rainbow for on the way in, to lull em into a false sense of security he said! Then he wanted to hit them with "Always look on the bright side of life", a song which totally summed up Dad's sense of humour!
His funeral is at 1.30 today, and we will be playing exactly what he requested, and probably singing along to Brian as well
good for him pulliptears - i hope all goes well for your difficult day.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -

Good choice of songs - always nice to have something modern.
Hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow.
Thinking about songs I'd like at my funeral (which I don't want to think about), I'd like this Honeybus song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFOY4qvK618 which my Dad used to sing to me as a kid (I thought he had made it up!)In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -
Maggie Bob I remember that song it's great. I think it was used in a tv ad way back when - possibly for Nimble ( diet bread) - someone else will know.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

At my Dad's funeral my stepmum, brother and i all chose a song each to have played. My stepmum had a Michael Bolton song, brother chose Celine Dion - My heart will go on...(always gives me goosebumps now), and I chose the theme tune to Only Fools and Horses...which went down a storm!
He loved that show and when ever it is on telly I always think of him.0 -
This sounds odd, but at my nan's funeral we had the music from the hovis ad - you know the one with the kid on the bike delivering the bread - it's a proper piece of music, but I only know it as the music from the hovis ad.
At my nephews funeral my sister in law had I know you're shining down at me from heaven by mariah carey. It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0 -
There are many poignant songs fit for a send off to the heavens. All Angels - Songbird, is very moving.
Ive chosen my song already, a classic that shows who i am and ultimately who i was. Band of Brothers Theme, Requiem for a soldier. Poignant.0 -
At my dad's funeral, we had Matt Munro 'Softly as I leave you'. It is only 2 mins and 35 secs long, but listening to that song I thought my heart was going to break. It was really apt as my dad loved Matt Munro and even now, 8 years on, I cannot listen to that song without feeling the rawness of the pain I felt then.
Maybe not a good example for your BIL, but just seemed right for my dad. Hope you manage to find a song which suits your BIL and all his life entailed.

Sorry Velvetbubbles, just read your post AFTER posting mine!! Hope everything went okay today (as well as could be expected anyway in these circumstances).
