I got very similar books in my childs section as omega did.
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.
  • They've got a set of 8 cook books for £10. I only checked one on Amazon and the lowest price is was going for was £4.50, so maybe a bit of profit to be made there.

My 1-5yr lucky dip was pretty much the same as the one listed above - didn't get Terrific Trains (pity) or Eeyore - in fact only got 9 books in total! but when I rang up they sent out a 10th one (Betty Spaghetti colouring book) very quickly.
Pretty pleased for the price; only disappointment was that 2 books duplicated ones I received in a Book People lucky dip last year. Gave those to grandma to keep at her house, so all's well. Still worth the price.
I also went for the 5-10 year old lucky dip, but sent it back as it was a bit girly.
I'm pretty pleased with the Book People this week - over the years I've had varying accounts with them under various surnames and addresses (not for naughty reasons, just because I always lose my account details) - the other day I asked them to track them all down and merge them into one. They did so very quickly - and now I've got 165 Book Points to spend - think that's worth about £7!

Have checked the web site today and they are now doing 20 childrens books for £10 - well worth it for xmas present I think.

On another note..... got my 10 adult books today. The person that delivered them had thrown them over my back gate in the rain so now have very damp books - have emailed them to complain!
    2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j

I had an Adult Lucky Dip, and on the whole thought it was well worth the money.

A Confederancy of Dunces - remembered this one because it was in my last luck dip. This was the only duplication from last time, and I gave it to a colleague.
Fanny McBride by Catherine Cookson - there's always one!!
Mrs Simpson - Secret lives of the Duchess of Windsor byCharles Higham in Hardback
The Good Doctor by Damon Galgut
Any Human Heart by William Boyd
The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje
    Playing Sardines by Michele Roberts
Fireworks by Angela Carter - a very slim book this one
The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
Iris Murdoch as I knew her by A N Wilson in Hardback

I ordered two lucky dip bags for age 1-5. They arrived yesterday - wrong lucky dip bags (age 10 ones)...grrr....so I phoned CS and they have reordered/resent some new lucky dips for me.

Apart from that hiccup..I have no complaints. Been using Book People for about 10 years, very pleased with their service.
