Churchmouse - your service sounds wonderful. There is something very special about taking Communion on Maundy Thursday. Due to the way my church is laid out, the need for the choir to sing during Communion, and the fact that we sing from an upstairs gallery, it is unfortunately not practical to share communion with the congregation. However at the end of the service, when the main altar has been stripped and the congregation are at Vigil in the chapel, the priest does a special Eucharist ceremony for the choir and organist at one of the other altars. At tht point the only lights in the whole church are the candles in the chapel and the ones on "our" altar. It makes me feel as close to God as it is possible to be.

Hello all, thankyou to everyone that has welcomed me to the board!

Have only just got round to posting. Have been putting off buying easter eggs for all the little relatives, as really dont want to spend the cash. I have about 12 to buy, thats without my own kids. ridiculous waste of money really. So had a brain wave, buy them all a really cheap one, and to make it not look too stingy - I made shortbread rabbits! Put in sandwich bag and selotaped bag to egg package. So now I should get bonus points as it looks like I have made lots effort. Took about 15mins in reality!!!!

really cold and miserable, so have only been out to do school run, havent had much energy for anything more as was up LOADS last night with little man (18mnths)
What can you do to get rid of bags under the eyes? Mine are now so bad even concealer cant help me...

KMATE - now THAT is true OS!! Well done on such a brilliant idea. As far as bags under the eyes are concerned - it's not so much bags as dark circles that make me look tired even when I'm not so if anyone has any ideas for KMATE and me, we'd be grateful. Of course, it doesn't help that I don't get enough sleep most nights! I've just thought - there's a health and beauty board on here - I'm sure there's loads of advice on that. I shall take a wander over there later.

Hasn't it turned even colder now? Not like last Easter at all!

Well, better go and check the fish pie that's in the oven. It smells good so I hope it tastes good as well!

    See ya.

CRAZY - I hope you have a good Easter to make up for all the hassle at work. You did well to stand up for yourself.

RE: washing machines. After years of making do with the cheapies that constantly let me down (Philips, Hotpoint, Hoover, Indes*!t (as my DH called it!) and Zanussi, I forked out on a Bosch and it has been brilliant. It has only needed new brushes (an easy job to sort out) in about seven years now. I also bought the matching tumble dryer which is equally as good. They are more expensive to buy but will last for so much longer.

Hi all, I've just caught up with all the news from today.

I arrived home from work to find that I had been caught by a speeding camera last Saturday, so I've now got a form to complete and wait to hear what my punishment will be, I was doing 36 in a 30 zone, I thought it was a 40 zone, but obviously not  so bang goes my clean licence from the last 21 years.

Miss Twit has broken up today for her Easter break, she's back on 9th April, as I am back in work on Tuesday, no doubt she will take full advantage of being able to stay in bed all day every day.

Nothing else of any interest happening at the moment.

Hugs to those in need, especially Smoky and Pen Pin.
Hope the ear problems are not board contagious Stefe & Kyle :D

Love to all The Twit :groophug:

Back from school with dd11 and her friend (her mum is stuck on a train somewhere between south and west london). dd's friend doesn't do fruit or veg so has had a smoothie made with ... er banana as she's not sure if she likes oranges, melon, blueberries, apple or kiwi which were the other options. There was a raffle at afterschool and dd has won a malteser egg while her friend has won a whistle - I banned it on the way home - not good for my sore ear.

Exoh has phoned to say he is going to be late - what else is new - which means a couple of hours of "what time is dad coming? .... what's the time now? ... is it nearly time for dad to come? ... how long since I last asked? ... what time is dad coming?" Wanted to try to get to Aldi tonight but will probably have to go tomorrow now.

dd18 called to see if she can drop dgs3 off at noon tomorrow and can I pick him up- well as she has spent the week battering me down to having him from 3 tomorrow till late on saturday I have had to be quite firm - I need to get some things out of the way before he comes so that I can spend some quality time with him - cue massive guilt trip - sadly I am immune to such things
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Hi Everyone,
Hug to all that need or want them. Have had a good day today and have achieved quite a lot. Sorted all through various paperwork and have cleaned the house.
We have the grandchildren down for Easter. We normally see them every 4 to 6 weeks as they live quite some way away. Any idea what to do with a five year old and a two year old when the weather is surposed to be awful!
We will do some baking which they love (eating most of the cake mixture before it reaches the tins) but I am stuck for other ideas.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and that it brings you everything you want and deserve.
The weather is very cold here and youngest sons heating still not working too stubon to come and stay with us but wearing lots of jumpers.
    Thinking of you Smokey

Well the social worker was nearly 2 hrs late and I wasnt impressed to say the least. She had gone to the wrong house apparently:confused: but wasnt till OH called her at 11am that we found out. OH was fuming! They have offered OH restbyte (sp)...basically I get put in a home for 4 weeks a year, then he can do what he wants, but he wasnt having that either:D ....I dont really want that, but am willing too if he really needs a break...I dont think Im that much of a burden to him though:confused: ...well maybe I am:o ....feeling a little down this evening after her visit because they always makes me feel like im a pain and I dont mean to be. I cant help my health being poor:cool:

My friend has invited me to go to hers for a coffee and piece of cake this evening, so have taken her up on it. OH & DD are coming too.

Hugs to all those in need.

  • Hello all

Havent posted in quite a few weeks - things have been hectic as usual!

DH has started on our kitchen! Its looking good, got rid of old cooker on freecycle, bought worktops half price last July, cooker and hob reduced and have been hanging around for ages. Paiting existing units cream - So a very lovely kitchen the MSE way (DH is a carpenter/general builder so its also free labour!) :D

Had the gas bill of doom through  Hate British Gas such a rip-off. As soon as the electric is with them too (in process of changing from key meter to "normal" electric we're going to change)

Glad works over for a few days..... Exciting news (well only for me) me & DH have started trying for a baby - how exciting! Sorry if its TMI :o

Really trying to save money now more than before.....

Note to self "Stop waffling"............. xx
