I bought mine because I have always wanted one (and the Safeway next to work was closing down and so had bargains) - I suffer badly from "gadget envy" :rotfl: I find I use mine in "dough" mode more than anything, pizza bases, rolls, DD&D's apple braids and iced fingers... although DD2 loves HM bread and gets all excited when I bake a loaf. They are very simple to use and although I hear that the bread doesn't "keep" as well as shop bought, it will freeze. (Not that that ever happens here - I can't bake it fast enough to keep up with demand!) However, baking bread is very therapeutic - why not try a loaf by hand first - you might find you have a knack for it??0

I bought a tesco bread maker and a couple of packs of bread ingredients (already in a pack and ready to go) they turned out to be very nice (with a nice covering of organic butter Mmm). I tried to make some bread from scratch using Tesco fast yeast and the breadmaker recipe. This didnt turn out so well. So followed the yeast pack recipe and this turned out better. So I'm looking for bread maker recipes (they seem hard to find online).
Can anyone help?
Also the breadmaker is really worth the money, even the kids are trying new types of bread!0 -

I made a nice small basic white loaf this afternoon for the first time in my Morphy Richards breadmaker. Got the recipe from The Ultimate Bread Machine book.
It tastes lovely and only cost about 20p to make in total including the electric.
210ml water
375g white bread flour
1½ teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
25g butter (spread etc)
1 teaspoon fast action yeast
Pour water in pan first then all other ingredients making sure your salt, sugar and yeast are in different parts of the pan.
Put on small loaf setting, basic white bread setting and medium crust.
It doesn't look like it has risen much when you look through the window but when you take it out you should find that it has risen.
Really easy to cut, I use a carving knife (the ones with a double serated edge and a fork thing at the end).
Give it a try, if it is a disaster it won't have cost you a fortune.
I have been using the strong bread flour from Lidl as it is only 49p for 1.5kg so that will make 4 small loaves.0 -

Going back at least 30 years, (God, am I THAT old??), my big bro' used to make superb bread, (it must have been good, my Dad used to praise him!!), and he used to reckon it was the finest way of getting your hands clean that he knew of
I sometimes wonder.....

I am seriously thinking of ordering one - to me it is very similar in looks to the MR one, so I am guessing that it might be made by them for Tesco. Does anyone know if it has a french bread setting? When I had a breadmaker, yonks ago, the only loaf kids would eat was the one made on the french bread setting.Jane

It must be nice. I haven't been allowed near anything sharp, pointed or combustible since 1976 :rotfl:LBM: 12.2.08.Debt-free as of July '09 :j and determined not to go there, ever again :mad:DFW Nerd Club #902 Proud to have dealt with my debts.0 -

1976, what a great summer that was.
Remember being on holiday in Looe during that heatwave listening to The Stranglers singing 'Sitting on the beaches looking at the peaches - da, da, da............'.0 -

There are some reviews here about it:

I think it's the same model.0 -
I think that the Tesco one might be better if you can make different sized loaves in it, because with the argos one you can only make the one size loaf (1.5lbs).Jane
