  • hya all....can I join in this thread??? I got my Tesco BM 2 weeks ago and i pay homage evry time I hear that paddle doing the first knead...:rotfl: I love it to bits

Ive done basic, wholemeal, banana , soda bread and last night I made fruit loaf though I didnt have mixed spice I used cinnamon and mebbe I shouldve used more fruit.....

I've saved so much money using the pizza dough cos my DS eats pizzas like, you know how you might have a late snack of cheese on toast, well he'd have a pizza

what I was wondering though.....you know the bun dough recipe would that be like the texture of yum yums?....don't knpw if yum yums are just a Scottish thing??????

What are you making now then Claire?

    Sharon

Erm well ..... I kinda made a disaster ..... I found a recipe for a buttermilek loaf and I thought ohhh that sounds yummy... so I had a go.... well... Im not going to put any pictures up because the dog has eaten it now.... but.. It was kinda.... all sunken about 2 inches high and all the buttermilk had solidified at the bottom....

So Im going to stick to your recipes from now on lol.

Got a white loaf in at the moment and I will be doing the rum & raison (apricot & sultana in orange juice) recipe for teatime :D

Hiya and wecome to the thread :T

I make a fruit loaf that was postde on here by Sharon and I admit I do put more fruit in it... probably about twice as much lol.

I dont know about the bun recipe and yum yums. Are they like the soft doughy soughnutty type things covered in a real thin icing sugar mixture that you can get from thomas the baker?

I have a MR and don't use any of the recipes that you get in the manual as they all call for loads of sugar and I don't use milk powder either.

Here are a couple of recipes that I tried this week and they came out fine, get your mum to try these:

    Small Basic White

    210ml water
    375g white bread flour
    1½ teaspoons salt
    1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    25g/1oz butter (spread etc)
    1 teaspoon fast action yeast

Small loaf, pale, programme 1 (Basic white)

    Small Brown Loaf

    280ml water
    250g brown bread flour
    125g white bread flour
    1½ teaspoon granulated sugar
    1½ teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon fast action yeast

I set it to small loaf, light colour and programme 1(Basic white)

    :)

PinkPig..... I stick to Sharons recipes as when I tried the breadmaker book ones every loaf was a disaster..... :T

Good luck with your breadmaker and let us know how you get on

How about this ' Rum and Raisin Loaf ' you can always just leave out the rum (think I may try this myself).

    75g/3oz raisins
    1½ tbs dark rum
    1 egg
    140ml/5fl oz milk
    350g/12oz white bread flour
    ¼ tsp ground ginger
    25g/1oz castor sugar
    ½ tsp salt
    40g/1½oz butter
    1 tsp easy blend yeast
    2 tsp clear honey (warmed)

Place raising and rum in small bowl and let soak for 2 hours or longer if you can.

Add egg and milk to bread machine pan.

    Add flour into pan.

Add castor sugar, ground ginger, salt and butter to pan (all in seperate corners).

Add yeast to centre of bread pan.

Set to basic normal setting, medium crust, small loaf.

Add rasins when machine beeps or after first kneading.

Put on wire rack, brush top with the warmed honey and leave to cool.

    :)

    My adapted recipe ....

    75g/4oz raisins
    2oz chopped dried apricots
    1½ tbs orange juice
    1 egg
    140ml/5fl oz milk
    350g/12oz white bread flour
¼ tsp ground ginger - never have any so omitted this
    25g/1oz castor sugar
    ½ tsp salt
    40g/1½oz butter
    1 tsp easy blend yeast
2 tsp clear honey (warmed)- always forget and throw it in with the ingredients lol

Oh and Sharon regarding an earlier post, it IS doves fast action yeast I use.

Has anyone got any ideas as to why my bread is heavy at the bottom?? I have tried less water, and using half and half flour which has made it better but it is still the same. I tried a sundried tom and parmesan ready mix yesterday and that came out perfect so I know its not the bm. Can I just ask do you need to sieve the flour?

    Thanks in advance
