Council house entitlement!!!
Comments
-
I agree she is probably not entitled to one & doesn't NEED one. No arguement there at all.
It was the sheer rudeness because she dared ask.
Had she asked about what benefits she was entitled too, she probably would have got a load of helpful replies & IF anyone dared to be rude, a load of support & defence.
But then its not PC is it?
And all I said in my original post is that she is not, and should not be entitled to an extra room for a visitor - yes, family visitor - but a weekend visitor all the same. I also suggested that if they want an extra room they could look at ways to up their income to afford it. Most low - middle income families struggle with house prices but most of us dont get the luxury of subsidised housing. My point was that the OP should either be happy with her lot or take practical action to improve her situation. NOT have a bigger house given to her. I haven't abused anyone, yet my posts were pounced on by you - my comparisons deemed silly, I'm apparently naive about the house price situation, sarcastic comments made about house prices up north and basically being called a coward and a hypocrite because I dont slag of people on benefits (although what thats got to do with anything!)
If I have been rude or abused the OP then please tell me exactly when!
I think MrsE you have been burned on MSE and are practicing some 'assertiveness' or should I say rudeness with your eye rolling and sarcastic comments and nasty tone. I suggest you need to practice what you preach as you have made me think twice about bothering to post an opinion for fear that someone wont like it.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

I'm surprised this thread is still rattling on.........
The trouble with forums and indeed the internet in general is that you can't express yourself as you would in real life. As a result people take umbridge with any comment that doesn't comply with their own thinking. And so it goes on and on with the comments getting increasingly nasty.
The OP asked a question and didn't like the answer she got, end of story.
Going on and on like this is getting everyone nowhere. If I was a mod on here I would have locked it by now..........0 -
To the original OP
Money saving expert website
BIGGER house JUST for a visitor ?
I suggest asking for a SMALLER house;)
How is this in any way helpfull to the OP ?
You are a nasty little man , some of your posts are pathetic

To the OP I don't think you'll have much luck to be honest and in all fairness it might be worth thinking "oh well at least we have enough rooms for the rest of us who live here full time." Sorry you got all the nastiness... I stopped visiting the forums for a while due to being upset by the unpleasantness and the little gangs that have seemedto form.. Mrs E I am totally with you re the ms arms.. I ended up in tears too my love.
I am a council tenant... ooh scum!!
My hubby and I were housed after I became disabled and had to stop working and still had loads of debt from university.. I was a professional in a blinding career and the drop in income crucified us. Plus I couldn't get a lot of treatment I needed on the NHS so had to pay for it on credit cards argh
The council gave us a 2 bed flat which is lovely, for us and our little boy but even I couldn't get an extra room to be used as my treatment room, so when my lady comes to push and pull me about and generally poke at my ouchy bits, I have to get my massage couch in my front room and clear everyone out lol.
I never ever thought I'd end up in council but I tell you what... it's not all "push a baby out and get everything you want" My husband works his bits off to bring in enough money to cover our rent an dbills, and we get a bit of tax credits to top us up. It's still a struggle and the council give you the cheapest of everything so the boiler and the glazing... none of it is great. We stillhave to save up and make our own improvements or just deal with it... which is fine... without this we would have nothing as the rents are too high and my disability limits us to where we can live. So we just make the best of things and thank god every day that I can still use my arms and legs.
Ps please don't criticise me for spelling.. pain in hands makes it hard to type so it's typo- rama!!Keely0 -

Would you be kind enough to quote me where I have been rude.
Because all I did was address issues & answer any questions.
There is a MASSIVE problem in the south of England. Wages are a tiny bit more, houses are treble.0 -
Eli,
Mutual exchanges are now online - check out http://www.homeswapper.co.uk/ but I'm not sure how many people would want to trade down from a 3 bed to a 2 bed.
Like other folks, I guess your chances of a transfer to a bigger council place are pretty slim, but obviously worth asking at your local housing office.
Good luck - as you're both working and on low wages I don't see what all the fuss was about.0 -
A family member of mine are in a council house and pay £85 a week rent for a 3 bedroom home. I wish the council would subsidise my mortgage on a 3 bed home so it only cost £85 a week?
You know, complaining about the *low* cost of council accomodation smacks of nothing but sour grapes.
The area of many council houses I'm sure reflects this and the higher cost of renting privately/buying is just simply because the housing market went crazy.
Whilst I'm aware that the cost of property is so high I also think that people live out of their means too easily. You KNEW how much your repayments were going to be why moan now (thats a general *you* by the way)
I'm quite happy paying my £75 a week for my 4 bedroom house and dont begrudge ANYONE a council house, especially those who finance their own rent.
Oh and NO, mines NOT council but was I lucky or savvy
