I have two different 1394 ports on my laptop.. one is the fat usb style one (like in gizmoleeds pic) which I use for an external hard drive and the other is a lil small port, I think used for camcorders etc.Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0

Hi guides
Not sure if this is in the right place but please move if not?
I know there used to be away of saving, and reading, posts (or pages?) whilst not being connected to the 'net. What I wanted to do was save the posts regarding the "Diet" posts ... but how do I save a page, let alone 4 topics full?Just need to read certain things offline ... and free up the phone again!
Seriously, is there a quick way of saving say ... 20 pages .... and reading them while not online?
Thanks in advance, and hope this makes sense. It's a hazard of dial-up0 -
If you're using Internet Explorer then what you need to do is load all the pages you want to see without reading them (ie. as soon as one comes up hit back and load the next one). Then, disconnect from the internet and click the "history" button on the top of your browser - all your recently visited pages are listed there, ordered by day. All pages are automatically saved on your PC anyway, you see.
If in opera, do the same but choose "hotlist", then "history".0 -

I'm not a techie, but don't you have to click "Make available off-line" as well ??"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

Yes, although as default it is on (or at least been on all my PCs), and I'm assuming as Sofa_Sogood didn't know how to browse offline he/she wouldn't have disabled the facility previously.0 -
Thanks gizmoleeds and theloft.
Just working through the replies - but will try what's suggested.
Just as an afterthought, I'm using I.E. and if I go to "File" then "save as", is this the same?0 -

It would work but it isn't really necessary. On most computers IE will save every web page you visit on the hard disk (tip: this is a major cause of unneccesary hard disk space usage)
The history tip should work and be easier.0
