    My favorite acronym is TWAIN.

ive been into start, control panel, sounds and devices and noticed that the volume is at its lowest, but when i move the slider and click ok it goes back to the lowest again, it wont stay any higher than the lowest point.

Dual layer means you can use DVD + or DVD - disks

That's completely wrong I'm afraid. It has nothing to do with DVD +/- formats. It means it will burn to dual layer disks as well as single layer, ie DVD+ DL (dual layer) and DVD- DL. Dual layer disks have essentially two writable areas one embedded below the other and the burner can switch between layers giving you disks that have nearly twice the capacity of single layer discs, about 8.5 GB as opposed to 4.7 GB.

  • HELP!
I am fairly new to the wonderful world of computers..

Whenever I try and play any music stored on my hard drive either with windows media player or real player, after about 10 to 30 seconds it freezes and eventually comes up with
Windows Media Player does not detect any storage media in the selected device. Insert media into the device.

Can some one please help as it's driving me nuts.
    Thanx

I recommend you get a copy of Ubuntu Linux, it comes with everything already setup - that is, word processor, spreadsheet editor, web browser, email manager, music / movie / DVD player, lots more.
Also they've got a really good support forum (and loads of help pages), and a site called ubuntuguide.org that answers all the frequently asked questions perfectly.
Since you're new to PCs, it'd be really easy to get used to aswell, and best of all it's completely free forever, from https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ - you just download it and burn it to a disc (or if you prefer, they'll send you a copy through the post).

    Hope that helps :)

    Hi,
I have a sony nw205 2gb mp3 player and have lost the usb cable supplied with it, however i do have an old usb cable from a camera which i can use to connect to PC to recharge mp3 player but i cannot access files on mp3 player computer will not recognise it as been plugged in, the connection point is the same as motorolla phone chargers, i have contatced sony suppliers and they said

    Thankyou for your enquiry.

    The part number/s you require is : 1 x183142811

The price for the part/s including VAT & Postage is £20.78

Which i think is expensive for a cable surly there is compatable cheaper cables but they wont tell me....does anybody know if i could purchase an alternate usb cable that would work cause surly the sony one is just as standard as all the others out there, the only difference mayby with my camera one is that its about 4 years old so im guessing that usb cables out now are much quicker at file transfer and maybe thats what i need, am i right? any advice would be very much appreciated...
