Thanks Psychofly and Bill Scarab
I'll try to find the default settings again. I've just changed it to try 800 x 600 which made the text better to read but a little blurred, unless it's my glasses
Text like your user names appear to be too large - large enough to make me back away from the pc, but looking down at the posts in this thread's ok?!??
(It's not working that way either; I've lost the display icon somewhere! Double clicking on display's stopped working)
Just shutting windows down a sec to see if I can reset it to something else. BRB.Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -
Right click on your desktop and choose properties then click the display tab. Takes you to the same place.0

Hi again.
1280 x 800 is too small.
1280 x 768 is marginally better.
1024 x 768 is much better but has a slight blur, although that could be my eyesight?
Or could it be the DPI setting that's set at Normal size (96 DPI)? Not sure what any of that means btw, I found it by accident
If I have any problems I can always zoom in, but any more suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Oopps, just seen your reply Psychofly. I'm not sure how I lost the display lol, but I'll remember that for the futureOh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -
Have you checked the colour settings?
Right click an empty space on desktop / properties / Settings tab / Colour quality.
Set it at highest (32 bit)0 -

I checked it BritBrat and it was set at 32, but thanks for the reminderOh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -
Could it be the monitor settings, hardware?0
-
Have you checked
Properties-->Settings-->Advanced-->Monitor-->Screen Refresh rate
Bump it up to 70 or 75 (or whatever your monitor supports)Neil0 -
I'm not sure BritBrat
But whatever I've done since I reset has improved it slightly
I'll give that a try The_JinJ, and thanks for the reply. It's set at 60 Hertz at the moment.
ETA - I couldn't do that The_JinJ. It's stuck on 60 Hertz and says:
"Clearing this check box allows you to select display modes that this monitor cannot display correctly. This may lead to an unusable display and or/damaged hardware." So I'll leave it, but thanks all the sameOh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -
Sounds like the graphics drivers aren't installed on the laptop correctly although the fact you can get 32bit colour would suggest it's fine.
Mine be worth trying to reinstall the drivers.
I'm going to a training course in a minute so don't have time to go through how to do it but maybe someone else would be nice enough to0 -
