Does Plug & Play literally mean that you can plug something in and it will work straight away? I bought a USB external dial up modem for emergency use and it came with a driver CD. There was no instruction leaflet with it so now I don't know whether I have to put the CD in to get the modem to work and i'm scared to plug the modem in to test it in case I break something!

No, Plug & Play is often called Plug & Pray! You will need to load the device driver and any required software from the supplied CD before connecting the modem to the PC. Don't worry about breaking anything!

Is it possible? I have just had a new touchphone with lots of multimedia apps so want to make the most from it, hence using email on it. Therefore I set it up last night, but it is saying my googlemail is full after only saving the oldest 300 mails. So then I archived the messages in my googlemail account thinking it would work out ok, but no it is still saying on my phone that my googlemail is full. So, I'm thinking I have to save all my old messages onto disc, either that or delete them, does anyone have any ideas as I'm scratching my head and am not too technologically minded!!!!!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Amanda

If you hit full quota in Googlemail, it is irrelevant where the mail is stored or archived. The limit is not just for your inbox ... try deleting everything in your Sent Box just now, and see if that eases it. Otherwise if you want to save them on to a hard disk, import them through Outlook Express.

    I am using

    Ubuntu on my desktop pc
    PC/OS
Novel OpenSuse both on laptop 1
    Mint Linux
and XP for some sony erricson software that wont run in anything but windows. Both on laptop 2

I did have one of my laptops running OSX but that was just to prove you can get mac operating system onto a pc if you know what you are doing

Yep - you can't beat linux on price ;) and it's great if you're a techy, although you can't run itunes etc.

I think I might have to raise a thread about finding a cheap mac (I realise that's an oxymoron) as I just can't get rid of the unholy cravings to buy one...

Not strictly true, previous versions of iTunes have been ran successfully with WINE including iPod synching.
