  • You will find throughout the site entries in posts like & "   etc - these are all HTML v4.0 programming commands for the insertion of special characters in standard web pages. Most standard web-writers now will create these characters and display appropriately on the screen. These codes represent the Ampersand character (&), the quotation marks (") and an extra space ( ) respectively (in the HTML standards, only single spaces can be written; double spaces between sentences had to be coded to show tha standard single space, with an additional   to create a second space.)

Ring your CC company and tell them not to allow any more payments to the company.

Credit Card companies will not do this. You can ask but whenever I 've tried to stop a payment on a credit card, all they say is that they can challenge it afterwards if it is not an authorised payment. You will need to cancel in writing somehow.

I have done it in the past. You may need to persevere.
  • You say that you (or your daughter) has already gone to https : // billing.microsoft.com either while already logged in or signed-in at this point.

Have you/she then selected (i.e. clicked on) your "Windows Live Hotmail Plus" service (which probably has a status of "Enabled")

And then selected the "Cancel my service" link?

(Note that this is *not* the same as "Cancelling your *account*" but should reduce your service charges to £0.00 and thus not incur a subsequent year's £14.99 charge)

    Just an idea
  • Hi,

Yes she has signed into Microsoft live (service enabled) and gone to "cancel service" (not acct.) and when you click on this you get nothing. If you click on other stuff i.e "renew service" that comes up no prob! When you click on faq nothing comes up either. Only the stuff to keep you locked in! I shall persevere tho.

    Thanks

  • At last! Having gone round in circles trying to close Hotmail Plus Acct. Rang 0870 6010100 - appear to have succeeded in getting it cancelled, have just received confirmation email of this, and the guy said he would arrange refund of £14.99. (believe it when I see it lol). They certainly make it hard work to cancel and you cannot cancel on line, they lead you to believe you can but believe me you can't !!

    Best wishes

I see you have sorted it now, but anyway the 866 6724551 number looks like it is a USA number - toll free if I am not mistaken.
