sorry on here, or how do i close my account and open up a new name?Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

I reckon your best bet would be to contact a site administrator at webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com
I have had a look in the User Control Panel, and there seems to be no means of changing your username from your end.:wave:0 -

The easiest way would be to have a new email address. You can get another one just for use on this site. If you want one, I have found Google mail (gmail) to be excellent, with masses of storage. If you send me a Private Message with your existing email address, I will send you an invite.
Then when you have it, just register as though you are a newbie. You will have to choose a different user name of course."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
I suspect that Vikki is wanting to keep her well earned Post Count, therefore doesn't want to register a new account, and having to start again. Hence i can understand why she just wants to rename herself (or himself!).:wave:0

Cable uses the coaxial cable used to provide pay TV, like Sky/Virgin etc. ADSL or SDSL – Asymmetric/Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line – uses an existing phone line to provide internet access at high speeds, while still allowing the phone line to be used for phone calls. The basic difference is the medium by which your internet enters your home.
If you have broadband coming in, then you need to connect thru' a router (sometimes called a 'hub'). A modem, is used if the connection is by the old wired way over a telephone line. The modem just converted analogue (phone line) signals to digital (computer).
The wired USB modem will still work for you, but it will be very slow.:wave:0 -
Some rather misleading information posted here.Cable uses the coaxial cable used to provide pay TV, like Sky/Virgin etc.
Sky do not use co-ax cable as used on the Virgin cable network, Sky broadband is provided over a standard BT land line.
A router is only actually required if the broadband connection needs to be shared between several users. This applies equally to both cable and ADSL broadband.
A modem, is used if the connection is by the old wired way over a telephone line. The modem just converted analogue (phone line) signals to digital (computer).
A modem is required for both cable and ADSL. Either a separate modem provided by the cable company, often used in conjunction with a router or an ADSL modem/router.
The wired USB modem will still work for you, but it will be very slow.
Define very slow. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
