Hi R.Mac - old size 8 converts to 4mm in new money! I'll see if I can find a conversion chart to post on here!
Found one! http://www.yarnforward.com/needleconv.html
That's not the one - will go and look for another one!
This is the one for UK sizes http://www.purplekittyyarns.com/info/knitting-needle-conversion.html

brilliant - and as a bonus i actually have a pair in that size!!!
Off to start on a preemie hat now and find a film to watch. My reward for having all those exams this weekr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I'm halfway through a cream 8" square to send to Naomi, this would make me 2 squares for Naomi and one for Smokey.
If its too late for the cream square its fine, im knitting it from one of the dishcloth patterns posted earlier so i could have a posh dishcloth!!:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Evening all, just got in!
I think with the squares posted on here since last nite from Patches, jellybeans, mrs moneypenny and M.E WE HAVE ENOUGH FOR THE 2nd HTA BLANKET:beer::j:rotfl:
you guys are awesome!!!
I also received more squares from Mrs M and Beethebee today, Thanks so much folks. I am only waiting on 28 squares now..
Your stamps are being gratefully received too. They are going to a colleague of mine who donates them to an otter sanctuary and a dogs home, not sure where they are but I'll find out.
Right...here's the plan, gather round...Smokys blanket will have 63 squares which will include at least one square from every wooligan that knitted for her. There are 32 wooligans that have knitted for Smoky and the LO's & i have received squares from 22 of us so far . with me so far?good!
Last night I picked one square from every individual woolligan's squares that I have received so far. These are the squares I'm going to start Smokys blanket with and add 1 from each of the 10 remaining wooligans as I get them iyswim. After that I will pick random squares in the same colour scheme -ish to finish it off.
The variety of colours is fab and I took a pic of them.I'll post it in our Yahoo book in a mo., have a look... I'm having 2nd thoughts about cream and was thinking of a goldy colour, what dya reckon? your thoughts are always appreciated folks.
catch ya later, Lainey.:rolleyes:doing what I do best...trying!!-- lainey :j

You have all worked SO very hard on the squares; it's unbelievable that we have achieved three adult and three children's blankets in just over a month! If someone had told me just over four weeks ago that we would have reached this stage, I would not have believed them! The time, effort, dedication and commitment, as well as the exceptional knitting and crochet skills and enormous talent, continues to amaze me! I am so grateful that you responded in this way - it would not have been possible without all of you! Special thanks to Lainey Stardust for her energetic help and adding-up skills, as well as the mammoth task she is about to undertake in sewing all our squares together. Thanks to everyone who has answered queries and questions from new knitters. Thanks for all the photos that have been posted. Thanks to M.E. and Pigpen who, between them, conjured up the most fantastic name for us; thanks to MayTaurus and Kay Peel who have posted links to tutorials and the link to OECS; thanks to Artystitches (Naomi) of OECS for all her help and for setting up our Yahoo forum, thanks to Benthosboy (Martyn), for suggesting that we make a blanket for Smoky and to Whatatwit for suggesting blankets for the Smokelets, and thanks to Martin - our hero- without whose moneysavingexpert.com none of this would have been possible. I am so grateful to you all and feel honoured to have shared this great adventure with you. Long may we continue!
No doubt, as soon as I have posted this, I’ll think of others I should have thanked.
Wooligans are GO, GO, GO!!!
With much love to you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Well, haven't knitted for at least 3 years but so inspired by this thread. I don't want thanks but just want to say thank you so much to those of you who have been instrumental in this, especially those going through difficult times who thought up the blankets!
I will keep knitting but after having the boys this weekend, and going on holiday in a fortnight! Well, a bit busy just now and working full time. Will register with the Scottish site as I could probably easily hand stuff in to Kelty!
Thank you so much and I feel humble for my blessings.

You are sewing together and you will know best combination. You are such a star. I put extra long tails on my squares as not sure how sewing up. Go with the flow and whatever colour to match them up will be fine with us.
