Hi Jellybeans - Mrs Moneypenny says the 'super stretchy' hat (find it on www.lovinghandsorg.uk) is easy to do and knits up quickly! I've started the 'top knot' hat but will do the 'super stretchy' one next! I put the hat on hold to do another HTA/OECS square which I finished last night so I'll post that to Naomi today.
It looks like we may only have another 5 HTA/OECS squares to do now! BETHEEBEE - how many have you done in total? We're not sure if the four squares in your last post are in addition to the six you have already done! If they are, then we only need five more; if not, then we need nine - I hope that's clear?!!! If we need nine then I'll crochet a couple more over the weekend. I found an old knitting magazine (1979!) with loads of patterns for squares that are really easy and quick to do - I only wish I'd found it when we first started the blankets!
Have a great day everyone.

Thanks Kathy, I have printed off the super stretchy hat pattern and shall try it next! I've now done 1 and a half of the 2 extra squares I said I'd do for HTA so they should def be done by the start of next week
On loving hands, their current summer challenge is for 200 Paul O'Grady hats (part 4 of the summer challenge) http://www.lovinghands.org.uk/events.htm
Are we taking part in this- should I do a hat using the Paul O'Grady hat pattern as well, or is our 50 hat challenge something extra to the loving hands one? Thanks

Jellybeans - I didn't know about the Paul O'Grady challenge - it's a brilliant one, especially because it will be helping babies in Tibet and Tibet is a country that really suffers under the current regime. If it's got Paul O'Grady knitting then that's brilliant! We can choose which hats we do - I think I'll alternate between the two campaigns but still enclose a little slip from the Wooligans as well as the Paul O'Grady label. We can have two running totals going as we did with the blankets. This will make it such a worthwhile challenge, especially when you read just how important a tiny little hat, knitted from the comfort of our own well-furnished, warm and comfortable homes, can be, making the difference between life and death for these vulnerable little babies. Thank you so much, Jellybeans, for bringing it to our attention.

Morning all, :hello:
Mioliere, Yes the 4 squares are in addition to the 6 already sent making a total of 10. I will post the 4 on Monday as I am off to S/amton for the week-end.
Take care all0 -
regarding the baby hats, i think im correct in saying the hospitals in this country use pastels and 'baby' colours. but in certain countries white is a mourning colour so people see it as a bad omen to put their baby in white therefore the tend to want brighter happy colours for certain overseas countries. reading the loving hands site we send all the stuff we knit to the organiser and she sends them direct to the charites in need so im sure she will pick colours appropriate to the destinations.
the ball i am using at the mo is pastel marl pink/mint/lilac but once that ball is gone i will do some in 'happy' colours.
(I've completed 4 hats now, they are addictive)
Kathy i'll knit 2 squares over the weekend for naomis blankets in 8inch to help the total.SPC~12 ot 124

Yes you are right about white being a bad omen, the info on what colours to use for the Paul O'Grady challenge is in the pdf download from the save the children, i downloaded it a couple of weeks ago (think it was posted on the knitters thread)but haven't got around to knitting any yet, as i said in earlier post my local wool shop was also participating in this cause.PinkPunkBird
