okay, blues and pinks i can do, what size are we going for?

Hi Ifonly - just realised I hadn't answered this question! Sorry if you've been waiting - for the rest of the HTA blankets and the rest of the blankets for Smoky's children, we are still doing 8 x 8" squares. For anyone who wants to carry on making squares for HTA after that, we need to start making 7 x 7" squares because the group who sew them up (OECS) usually take that size.

Morning all! Having just gone through the figures using Lainey's latest count and mine (and realising that Lainey's was more accurate than mine!) I have updated my sig.

    This is Lainey's latest list.
The figures are in three groups: the first is for HTA, the second is for Smoky and the Smokelets and the third is the squares Lainey has received so far. Thanks for the list, Lainey!

    TOTALS:

    112 HTA
131 SMOKY and the SMOKELETS (66 received so far)

thats only 14 needed for 2nd HTA blanket, and only 37 needed to have enough for Smoky and her 3 Smokelets blankets.

It would be great if everyone can check their name and numbers and let me know if we have got it right! This list will now be updated daily - in the evening probably although, as you can see, we're almost there! A total of 14 more squares are needed in the warm fiery autumn colours for HTA (which go to Naomi of OECS for sewing up) and a further 37 needed to complete Smoky's and the Smokelets' blankets of which Lainey has received 66 so far).

The fantastic Wooligans has achieved 243 squares in 26 days - how amazing is that? I am truly stunned by the enthusiasm, time and effort that has gone into this! It's unbelievable - well done!

    Will catch up later.

Have finally managed to get 1 square done :j never thought i'd get around to doing some but decided to make a start yesterday afternoon.

Its a pink one with a lilac top as i miscalculated how much pink there was!! :o hope that will be ok for Smokey or a Smokelets blanket.

    Hello wooligans

haven't knitted for about a week now as had a pile of exam prep and work to get on with - also been a little stressful (so prob should have been knitting!!)

Anyway, this afternoon I'm hoping to get another square done, and I think that will be all the wool I have finished up. In which case I'm going to try a couple of the local charity shops to find some more.

This challenge has really given me confidence and I would love to knit something - a friend is having a baby and so i think i'll attempt a small baby blanket. Would love to try a really simple baby bonnet, teddy bear or matinee coat - but most of the patterns look quite complicated. Does anyone have a tried and tested SIMPLE pattern????

    thanks x

PS lainey - haven't had a chance to be at the post office this week - will send those squares asap though!

thanks for letting us know the squares are arriving safely Lainey, i hope you havent set yourself too mammoth a task putting them all together.

thank you for the updated list Kathy, my figures are correct.

its brilliant how everyone is working so hard and pulling together so well in this thread.

i started a peach square last night while er was on and ive got a purple one going on other needles but i wont have enough wool to finish it so its eithier going to be a stripey square or it will get pulled down ihavent decided yet.

mrs-moneypenny my sentiments exactly, its lovely to be involved with a group as dedicated and friendly as we all are:T

I am still working on a yellow square but it looks a bit small it`s 7.5", it should stretch out to 8" when I press it.
I will finish it tonight and hopefully start another one.
