    Hi all

I've been reading this thread and I'm in tears. I'm just so touched by how everyone has pulled together to make a difference for people all over the world.

I'll go and start knitting my squares before I start crying. I'm only a beginner can anyone direct me to what would be the next easiest thing to do after squares? I've looked through the links but I can't really tell what's easy and what's hard if you know what I mean.

hi ianna, i think the super stretchy baby hat on the preemiesuk site is easy to do, for a beginner, if you can do pearl stitch, or how about a scarf, if you have just mastered the knit stitch

Welcome Ianna - good to have you on board. One of our girls even learnt to knit just to be able to join us and has proved to be an excellent knitter; please don't worry that you are just a beginner. Making squares and baby hats will be great practice for you! Have you read the very first post on this thread? It has all the relevant details. Here is a link to www.lovinghand.org.uk - this is where we send our knitted items and they distribute it to all the charities they are involved with. Also, join us on our knitting group here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ and you can see photos of some of the things we have made so far. You will need to apply to join and I will 'approve' you.

I would write a few more details if I had time but hopefully this is enough info to get you going as it were and I will come back on here when I can. If you have any questions, fire away - there will always be someone around to help!

As all you Wooligans must know by now, my DS2 is getting married today so I won't have a great deal of time to post on here! Could I ask that if anyone has new totals, they could just make a note of them and post them on Monday? I have so many people either staying with me or calling in over the weekend that I may not have many chances to come on here and I would hate to miss someone's update! This way, I can keep up to date with things. I doubt I'll do any knitting this weekend (although I could do with it's soothing qualities right now!) but I'm looking forward to getting back in to it next week.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I know I will!

I've just made an Innocent Smoothie hat! It's the first time I've knitted anything since I was about ten (which is over 20 years) and even then I think my talents didn't go any further than making scarves for my dolls. The hat has a few unintended "features" but I'm generally pleased with how it turned out and now I'm wondering if I'm brave enough to try one of the Save the Children hats next.

Nice to see you,we are a friendly bunch in here :D

It looks like you have both made a good start, the IS hats and squares are a good choice to start with. As Shazrobo said scarves are easy and quick too, any size, big ones small ones, all are welcome for LH.All the other info is on the first page as Kathy has said. She will be back in a couple of days:j

    Hi Kathy
So glad to hear on the daily thread how well the wedding went. Our first next May !!!

Could you update my totals. Been busy on the sunshine bus !!

    202 HATS

What are people doing about the ventilator hats --- sending them to Preemies Uk or as usual to Lou?

Oh and a big welcome to the newbies. I hope you have not got anything pressing in your lives !!!

If all ventilator hats can still come to me it would be so much appreciated as we keep running low as these are one of the main items the hospitals ask for

    Thankyou so much

This might sound like a stupid question but how do I change colours for the second pattern here? Do I need to cut the wool or something? I don't understand.
