today i have finished the scarf i had started and also made another little baby hat.
the knitting is doing me the world of good, as well as the knowledge that i'm helping a good cause, starting knitting again, has also made me sit down and relax, which has helped me feel less stressed no end.
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)

    Pippa.S :hello:

I think the best and easiest filling, is an old pillow or duvet (hollowfibre or polyester type)
just wash it, dry it thoroughly,
pull it into pieces & fill your toys.
I also use it for draught excluders, quilting and as a lightweight packing material when posting fragile items

Even if you buy one new as it's only for stuffing you can buy a cheap one and it's cheaper than buying the specialist stuff !!

    Hi there.

Maytaurus - what a brilliant idea; I'd never have thought of doing that. I have a spare single duvet that came free with a bed - I've never used it so it will make ideal stuffing and all for free. I'm sure there's enough there to last for years! Even buying one, as you say, would be cheaper than buying the toy stuffing. Thanks for posting the idea!

Shazrobo - I find knitting and crocheting so soothing after a hard day; I'm glad you are enjoying it.

    Off to update!

Can you share some info on what are you peeps are doing with your baby blankets and lap rugs (and squares )??
Amongst other things, I make blankets for the P.D.S.A. animals but have some really nice wool here and thought it would be nice for a baby or elderly person

Hi Maytaurus - you've kept us really well supplied with your great links; thank you so much. If you read the very first post on this thread, it has been edited with all the latest info including where we send the things we knit. For instance, all our baby things go to www.lovinghands.org.uk which is a fantastic site that distributes the items to various deserving causes. They also run lots of challenges which are great fun. Lou, who runs it, knows about us and you are more than welcome to join the forum there - most of us have. Also, please join us here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ on our Yahoo group. You'll find lots of photos of the things we have made. You have to apply and I have to 'approve' you.The squares we knit go here http://uk.geocities.com/oecs_central/; the lovely ladies there sew them all together and distribute them to care homes.

As you can see, these various organisations keep our needles and hooks very busy.

It would be lovely if you joined in our various projects; please don't forget to take a look at the first post here - it gives lots of info and addresses; I keep the running totals there as well as on the current page and also in my sig.

Thanks again for all the info and links you have posted on this thread. You are very good at finding things, aren't you?

Have you got the link to those cute crochet rabbits, please? I'd love to add them to the hats I make.
