Hi everyone - just checking in to say that I haven't been that well this week so have not posted on this thread for a few days. I have managed to complete my second Teddy for Tragedy and four more hats and will update the totals tomorrow morning.

Chalky - your totals are amazing; I'm so impressed! I will update tomorrow when my eyes stop wanting to close!

Lainey - I hope you are well?

Owens - some wool shops offer knitting and crochet lessons so it's worth asking them or you could google something like 'knitting and crochet lessons in .............'(whatever your location is). Failing that, if you look on the very first post on this thread there are links to online tutorials and you could google 'knitting tutorials online' and the same for crochet. Some of them have excellent videos which really help with learning. It would be great if you can join us! The very first post on this thread has lots of info about what we do. One of our group taught herself to knit just to be able to join us; she has posted photos of her items on our Yahoo group and she is an excellent knitter! Our Yahoo group is here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ please feel free to join us - there are lots of people who will be only too happy to help with tips and advice while you learn!

    Will catch up later.

Hi Chalky - thanks! I am feeling a bit better today but, as you can see from the time of this post, I woke up early (due to coughing and sniffling) so will be flagging later! I shall just go and update the totals then take another cuppa back to bed, I think!

    Latest Update:

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

Hello everyone, and I hope you're feeling a bit better Mioliere :) Please could you update me with another nine smoothie hats, which takes me up to a nice round 30. I'll try at some point this week to get OH to take a picture of the hats for me, I'll have to think of somewhere I can line them all up lol!

Hi everyone and thanks for the good wishes. Still feeling less than 100% but I have the house to myself for a couple of hours (DH is helping DS2 fit a cat flap in his house!) and will be having a long snooze in a minute!

Thanks for the update, Gingernutmeg - I'll add your totals to the running totals in my last post. Well done for all those hats!

    See you all later.

Hi Mioliere, I do hope you are feeling better. I have not been around myself so much lately, too busy doing it to write about it.

At last I have finished baby hat number nine. One has already been sent to Loving Hands but hopefully I will have a parcel posted this week which contains 8 more hats and a nice big cosy lap-rug which I have crocheted from a huge ball of wool which was surplus to my requirements.

I have received news this weekend of another baby to arrive in our family, not a very close relative but I will be knitting nevertheless. I am going to be rather busy in the coming months as I have a couple of things I want to do for myself to beat the budget as well as the baby clothes which are being planned in my head at the moment. I will try to discipline myself to keep a steady flow of baby hats coming.

Please update me and be better soon,

    Bella.

Hi Bella - thanks for the update and the good wishes. I'm still not feeling 100% but am not getting any worse!

I am also knitting other things besides the hats and charity items - I'm trying to get a head start on Christmas presents! I think this Christmas is going to be even more of a challenge than usual this year for most of us due to rising prices!

I have a parcel to post to Loving Hands (two Teddies and eight baby hats), and about 5 squares to send off to OECS. I must take a photo of the Teds and hats before I pack them up. I knitted one Ted and crocheted the other but gave it a stocking stitch face which has worked out quite well. Considering that they are both straightforward patterns without shaping it's surprising what nice friendly teddies they turn into!

Anyway, will update the totals and catch up with you all later.

Hi Mrs Moneypenny - I think I'm slowly 'mending' now; thanks for your kind words. The totals are brilliant, aren't they? I'm so impressed with them; everyone leads busy lives yet are still happy and willing to help such deserving causes. It's really heartwarming when all you seem to hear about on the news is the bad side of human nature. Most people really are lovely, I think!
