    Up the Wooligans I say.

With all the terrible news it is so lovely to remember our children holding up a sticky cheek to be kissed and a grubby hand to be held.

I really do believe that we are making a difference

Quick question for veteran wooligans - I've just tried out my first smoothie hat (I know, I know, I said I'd join in ages ago, but life has been moving a bit too fast for my liking recently, and I have so many OS ideas whizzing around in my head it's hard to know what to do first!). Are you guys all doing the fancy ones like in their gallery, or simple ones? I'm thinking if I do fancy schmancy ones I'm going to take even longer, where I could bash a few simple ones out every now and again. What are y'all doing?

Hi 2Cats - thanks for posting. I think people are mainly doing plain ones or striped which are so simple and knit up so quickly. If you look on here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ you can see photos that some of us have posted of the things we have made. I can't remember whether or not you joined that group but, if not, just apply and I will 'approve' you and then you can access the photos.

With the baby hats I have found a crochet pattern that takes so little time and grows so quickly that I tend to mainly do those. It means I can make more of them so more babies can be helped! I actually adapted one of the crochet patterns to Smoothie size and it took no time at all. If you look on here http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/ there are loads of patterns and this is where I found the crochet ones I use. There are also lots of patterns for knitted items, too.

Chalky - what lovely words! Sums up what being a Mum is all about!

HI Jellybeans - thanks for the update; you've done really well. My two teds are sat on my sofa at the moment - I shall post them off with some hats tomorrow! I've not been too well lately so, once the second teddy was finished, I knitted four more hats because I found them more restful to do just in the one colour!

Off to update and will call back later!

    Latest Update:

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

Hi Pippa - good to hear from you. Yes, I am much better, thanks. Sunnyday, on the OS Daily, suggested it sounded more like hayfever than a cold so, with her advice, I've treated it as such and I think we've cracked it! I had no idea that hayfever could make you feel so ill, though, and will definitely be prepared for it from now on!

You've been busy, haven't you? Your three teddies brings the total to 13 - wouldn't they look cute all lined up together? I knitted one in blues for a boy and then crocheted one in pink and lilac for a girl; I don't like crocheted faces on dolls, though, so I did the face in stocking stitch and it turned out really well. I'll try and do some more but, for some reason I found knitting hats far more relaxing when I was ill so switched to that over the weekend and managed to do four.

On the Loving Hands forum I found a thread on 'Pram Stars'; I don't know if you have seen it? They are really cheerful little things which the nurses hang from the incubators in the prem baby units to brighten them up. They use up really tiny scraps of wool so are ideal for making the most of your yarn stash. If you ask Lou on Loving Hands for the pattern she will email it to you. When I received my email from her I couldn't read the writing very well because it was too small and, for some reason, I couldn't enlarge it so, with the help of a magnifying glass, I retyped it! It's still worth asking her for the pattern to give you a picture of the Pram Stars but, if you want the re-typed version I'll post it on here!

    Anyway, off to update now!

Hi Mrs Moneypenny - I think the Teds have to be in by the end of June. I posted two off yesterday along with some hats and some lace trimming. I'll try and get a couple more done but DH is at home this week revamping the porch, making a mess and getting in my way! On 30th June he is going to France to help his brother there lay a patio round a swimming pool - I could have gone but it's out in the sticks and I'd get bored. I'd much rather have some peace and quiet here to get some knitting and other bits and pieces done - like the 150 wedding favours for my DS2's wedding in August!

    Will call back later.

Hello Kathy glad you are feeling better now, who would have thought it could be hayfever.

I saw the stars on L/H and wondered what they were, yes I would like to have a go at them if you would`nt mind posting the pattern, or pm me if you like.:D

I have just put my latest teds and hats on our Wooligan site, and I will post them off to Lou tomorrow.

I was going to ask you to update me with 1 hat but I see you have already done it thanks:T I have done 11 now.

I am going to do a few squares for OECS next I think as I havent sent any for ages. I will do 7" now though, if I remember right that is what they need.
