Hi Lainey - please don't feel you have to rush the sewing up! When you think that you are sewing together more than 160 squares it's no simple task! You are doing such a good job especially as you also have work and a family and home to run. I think you are a real angel for taking it on and hope it's not taking up too much of your free time.

Hi to all you keen knitters. I wondered if you knew that it was World wide knitting in public day this Saturday. There are lots of events going on around the world, I'm going to my local one in Truro. You can find out details from the WWKIP website if there is anything near where you live. I'm a keen member of the Ravelry website which is like facebook for knitters and is really addictive. Are any of you members?

Hi Carol - thanks for posting on our thread! I had heard of some knitting-in-public events (www.lovinghands.org.uk are having one in Scotland) but I didn't realise it was worldwide or even nationwide. I will look at the WWKIP site and see if there is one local to me here in sunny Hampshire!

I am a member of Ravelry but to be honest I don't log in as regularly as I should; I shall visit it again today!

Once again, thanks for the post and, if you have needles and wool looking for something to knit, you are more than welcome to read the very first post on this thread (which is updated regularly) and join us in some knitting for charity! We are having great fun and helping those with a lot less than ourselves.

Hi everyone - thanks to Carol_a (see previous post) for telling us about the WWKIP (knitting in public) event being held on Saturday. Here is the link to the site with instructions for finding out if there is one local to your area http://www.wwkipday.com/ Unfortunately, the nearest one to me is still some distance away - I shall knit in the garden and be there in mind if not in body!

Hi Mrs Moneypenny - sorry you've had computer problems but glad you are back online now! I shall update with your two new teddies. I'm crocheting my second one just to see how the pattern compares with the knitted one and it's really coming on so much faster than the knitted one. I think I shall make a couple more but will probably stocking stitch the section for the head because I don't like crochet faces!

    Anyway, off to update.

    Latest Update:

The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

Are the hats the same as the ones in last week's Woman's Weekly magazine that had Paul O'Grady asking for help? At the moment I have promised three shawls to people and am half way through a jumper for my daughter but I shall definitely try and do some little hats or something else for charities. I haven't been knitting for years due to a difficult time but have at last picked up my needles again and am getting a bit obsessed. I promise to keep an eye on this thread!

Hi Carol - it's great to have you on board! We're doing all sorts of hats including those mentioned in Paul O'Grady's appeal. All our info is on the very first page of this thread including addresses for sending finished items. www.lovinghands.org.uk is a fantastic group which distributes knitted and crocheted items to those in need throughout the world; their site has lots of patterns for baby items and links to other sites with more patterns. They have a great forum as well. We have our own Yahoo group here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/ - please feel free to join us; there are lots of photos there of things we have made so far.

When you have finished your shawls and your daughter's jumper it would be lovely to see photos of them! I love to see what other things people are knitting.

As I say, the very first post on this thread has lots and lots of info about all our work - it is updated regularly and carries all the latest running totals, as does my sig.

Looking forward to getting to know you on here!
