Further to above, I managed to finish off the wrap with hood and have started on a blue hat for SCBU.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

margaret clare - hope I can explain a little about the ridges in the preemie hats.
Each 'ridge' is formed by a knit row-purl row-knit row, so three rows in total. Once you start knitting the ridges become visible on each side, so the first three rows form the first ridge on side 1 and the second three rows form the first ridge on side 2. to count the ridges, there should be the same number of ridges on each side.
does that make any sense?
Yes, it does. But this wrap with hood is knitted in garter stitch, so there's no purl row! Anyway, I knitted as many as I thought and have finished off the wrap with hood.
I'd really like a simple baby shawl/baby blanket - any suggestions? Am now doing a blue hat for SCBU.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hi Mioliere, Thanks for not telling me off
You are spot on, knitting does help to keep my mind off things. I have my pre op assesment tommorow and will be given a date for my op:T and I will be taking my knitting with me so I can keep busy whilst waiting.

using 4mm needles cast on 108 stitches
knit 9 rows (garter stitch)
change to 6mm needles an start pattern
every row is knit 1 (yfwd K2tog to end) the last stitch is knit.
once your work is 22 inches long change back to 4mm needles do another 9 rows of knit (garter stitch) and cast off.
Lou posted this in the sommer donations thread and shes posted a photo of one she has completed it looks really nice.
Its easy to knit as ive started one and its growing wellSPC~12 ot 124

HI Mrs Moneypenny - thanks for the link to the baby blanket/shawl. Having just looked on the Loving Hands site I realised that I haven't looked on there for ages! I have been keeping to the same easy crochet pattern for the hats because they are so quick but I really must get a bit more adventurous! I will take a look a bit later and choose something else to knit.
BETH - if you read this when you get back from the hospital - I do hope everything went well and that your ops will be carried out very soon.

:hello:
Hi mioliere can you update me with 1 I.S hat please, that makes 8 now
I havent done much knitting for the last couple of day`s as I`ve been really busy.
But tonight finally sitting down for a while, I started a corner to corner blanket in a lovely lilac colour, which is growing quite quickly and I am really enjoying it.
I will change the colour when I have used the 100gr ball I started with and start on a lovely pink for the next 100gr.
I think it was Mrs.Moneypenny I have to thank for starting me off on it:T Anne

Hi everyone; well done on your first hat, Gingernutmeg! Thanks for the update, Pippa - I'll add the latest hats to the totals now.
Latest Update:
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.
