C1AIRE - I love your idea of making pockets for the hot-water bottle! I'm going to make one for myself and for my Mum for Christmas! We both suffer from cold feet so thanks for a brilliant idea! Hope it's not too long until your delivery of wool arrives.
Kathy
My Mum will be getting a similar pressie! They are pretty quick to crochet up too.:DOnly when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0 -
PECKEDHEN - SEAKAY is right about the two-ply; the wool you have doesn't sound like double-knitting wool. Maybe you could wind it into two separate balls and knit double?
Kathy
Thanks Seakay and Kathy, Maybe it's three ply? Anyway I'll wind it into two balls - that sounds the best bet.
One more preemie bonnet knit. I really must stop and do some house work and, the poor dog is wondering why she's not getting so many walks!!:D:DPreemie hats 9 :j0 -
Hi Peckedhen 2 ply is sooo thin its like knitting with sewing cotton, I did a baby shawl in it once and it took forrrever....it did look lovely though when I had finished it.
Kathy had a good idea to use it double, I would give it a go and see how it turns out
Happy knitting
Anne

Hi everyone - had a very hectic morning so far but will update the totals in a mo now that I have a bit of time to myself.
Chalky - the burial gowns are a sad thing to think about; I haven't done one but I want to because I think they must be comforting to the parents who have lost a baby. It sends their little one off with dignity and respect, especially if the gown is something that has been hand-made. I'm sure the parents are pleased to receive one - at least they know that others are thinking of those who are less fortunate and are willingly making things that will help.
HI Lainey - you must be working SO hard - you're an angel for doing all that sewing up. My bats aren't active yet - or they might be but I'm so terrified of Maybugs that I won't go outside at dusk until 1st June!
I'll update now - well done on all the hats since my last update!
Kathy

I've used the two strand wool double, and knitted two more top knot hats. I'm not sure what I have now - maybe the equivalent of double, maybe a tad thicker. The wool I have is mainly white so I suppose that I ought to send these to my local neonatal unit?Preemie hats 9 :j0

Hi Peckedhen - I'm sure it won't matter if the wool has turned out a bit thicker than double knitting! The hats will still be welcome. You can send them to your local neonatal unit or to Loving Hands (www.lovinghands.org.uk) - they'll send white ones out to deserving causes in the UK. I'll update the totals tomorrow to include your two top-knot hats. I've made three of those; they're so cute, aren't they?

Hurrah! My wool arrived this morning, so I am back in business! Already done a preemie hat (please could you update me) and have a coach trip to Bristol later today, so plenty of crochet time there!Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0
