Hi PeckedHen - you've done really well in such a short time! That's brilliant! As for the wool you have, I wish I could see it because I'd be able to tell! If you've been knitting in double knitting for the hats you have done so far, you should just be able to compare the thickness of the wool. 4-ply is thin and would have four strands and I've just unravelled some double knitting and it has three strands - hope that helps!

I'll go and update the totals to include your hats; thanks!

    Thanks Kathy,

The four strand is four ply then - it's slightly thinner than the double. The three strand is even thinner still so, do you think this will be three ply or, could it be two ply? .......Is there such a thing as two ply? You can tell I'm not much of a knitter!!:rotfl:

Two ply does exist although it is not common - specialist yarn sites stock it.
  • Goodafternoon everyone, I am just starting my 19th knitted square in shades of blue and green so anyone out there crying out for more. I will have the next batch of 12 ready by Monday. Does anyone know if Belinda is still needing more squares? Happy knitting

Hi Lovetoshoptoo. You must knit fast!!! I've no idea if Belinda needs more or not, but no doubt Mioliere or lainey stardust or someone will be along at some point and they may be able to help.
I haven't knitted any squares for a week or so-there's so much happening at the mo!!!

Arrrgh! I'm out of wool and waiting on a delivery from loving hands. My crochet hook is feeling all unloved and watching the telly is just not the same. I have some (slightly fluffy) wool that has magicked itself into a hot water bottle cover during last night's CSI. Am going to make pockets on it to tuck my (eternally freezing) feet into but that should finish the ball. I miss making the preemie hats...

    Hi there!

Beth - no pressure! I have already lectured you on the Daily thread! Take it easy, girl!

LOVETOSHOP - OECS always need squares so you can send them to any of the addresses in the very first post (apart from Naomi at the moment because she has just become the proud mum of a gorgeous little boy and has her hands full enough!). You're knitting very fast - well done!

PECKEDHEN - SEAKAY is right about the two-ply; the wool you have doesn't sound like double-knitting wool. Maybe you could wind it into two separate balls and knit double?

C1AIRE - I love your idea of making pockets for the hot-water bottle! I'm going to make one for myself and for my Mum for Christmas! We both suffer from cold feet so thanks for a brilliant idea! Hope it's not too long until your delivery of wool arrives.
