My husband used them not very good mind, they don't respond when you send them e-mails when you've had an accident that wasn't your fault. We recieved an answer 5 weeks after the event.

I am considering switching my insurance from direct line to swiftcover after discovering that they can reduce my insurance by about £500!!
Has anyone had any experience with swiftcover, good or bad? The price is good, but how is the service?

Got caught out with their 'auto renewal' when I had never heard of it before.
No new quote supplied for the next year, (by post or email) and I went elsewhere. First thing I know, I'm being sent threatening letters because they couldn't debit my credit card. (I had changed it.)

Won't make the same mistake again.

I've used SwiftCover for around 3 years.

I am about to leave them for a cheaper insurer and there seems to have been a mix up with my NCD - they're saying I have more than I should (which I guess is better than saying I have less than I should).

Aside from that they've always been really easy to deal with.

That said, I never had to claim and never intend to claim. Car insurance is just legalised robbery and I tend to go with the most generous mugger.

I've used them off and on for different cars over the years based on good quotes. Never had to make a claim with them though.

As I've just posted on a different thread, have just now discovered something in their Ts&Cs which I regard as sharp practice - dont know if it's common or not amongst insurers. I have 8 years NCD and am looking to insure a new (to me) car. They will use 8 years to base their quote on, but if I want to move insurer next year they will only provide proof of 5 years NCD. 5 is their maximum. How is that right? Also if you have an accident, protected or not protected, your NCD will get reset to 5, or reduced to 3, depending on number of claims etc etc.

Will be looking around for quotes for a little while longer yet...
  • As many decided to go with swift as they were the cheapest on price comparison website and well known company. 1st mistake of many.

Had an accident on the way to wales, call centre phone line on documentation closed as it was bank holiday monday, not a great start. Had to arrange own recovery of vehicle as it wasnt driveable, swift refused to pay as 'we should have contacted them'. eventually paid independent recovery company after constant phone calls.

Rang to begin claim process, car was collected while still on holiday without notifying us. Told to contact repair company to arrange courtesy car (even though I paid extra for courtesy car 14 day cover), told couldnt have one as they had assessed and written car off! Had to catch train home £175 lighter.

Arrived home, phoned to get settlement figure, told wudnt receive penny as no claims hadnt been received from previous insurer and were cancelling policy.

    5hrs of phonecalls later, sorted!

Once claim offer received informed remaining monthly payments, plus excess, plus standard excess to be taken out of figure. Paid £3,500 for vehicle after dedcutions left with £1,400. After paying £1,200 in insurance premium, they pay out £1,400! Not bad business......for them.

Throughout, I had to do all running, chase emails that were never sent, phonecalls never returned etc.

Never go with again or recommend! I know kost insurance companies are similar n nature of business, swift are simply not interested in helping you in time of need when you are paying over thousand pound for this non existing service.

To be fair to Swift all companies would deduct your excess also a large amount of companies would also deduct your remaining instalments from the settlement figure

I've been with Swiftcover for 3 years having gone with them for a substantial saving. The 1st renewal was competitive but found a cheaper insurer elsewhere - SC were happy to beat the price and did so again last year. This years renewal was quite high and they weren't willing to consider a price-match so I changed.

Although I was insured with them for 3 years, I never had any problems and found them courteous - even when I said I was walking! However, an insurance company is only ever as good as their claims service - fortunately I didn't experience this!

This has to be the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
They never reply to any written correspondence and their phone lines are always busy.
When you do finally get through, the service ranges from seemingly helpful to absolutely inept.
The result, however, is the same.
After 3 months of being d*cked around and still no resolution , I've had enough.
No wonder their quotes are so cheap. They'll take your money, and then, when it's time to make a claim, they'll leave you twisting in the wind.
You'll rue the day you ever made a claim with these guys.
    Stay clear of them.
Their slogan is "Click Click, don't Cluck Cluck"
It should be more like "Click Click, and f*ck off".

I've made a deposit of £50 for a car insurance policy. It's arrived with the wrong date so I now have my car insured twice. Finding a telephone number for them is nigh impossible - I got it through my current insurer (who had nothing good to say about SwiftCover). They're trying to increase my policy cost because my wife had a windscreen claim on her car a year ago (which she paid the standard £65 towards anyway) - and to try and speak to them is an utter waste of time - they do NOT answer the phone but instead leave a message that you leave your contact details and they'll get back to you in 5 days time!!!
Absolutely everything about them is shady and slimy. I've lost all trust in them so I intend cancelling my policy before it should start - but they now want a cancellation charge - in other words they are unlikely to return my £50.
    Stay well clear.
  • We had both cars insured with SC.
Someone ran into the back of my wife's car.
SC accepted liability on her behalf.
No way would they listen, said we hadn't provided information when asked, absolute lies.

I will never insure with SC or AXA (parent company) again.

Their claims department are an absolute joke.

This sounds like you failed to disclose this claim when applying for the policy. They have now found out about the undisclosed claim and are (correctly) wanting to increase the premium they originally offered.

All insurers would do this when they discovered you hadn't been truthful in your application - not just swift.
