Sounds like me-tea was one of the things that brought us as a family together when I was still at home with my parents. We often ate seperately (mostly because we had three girls in the house who were almost always on different diets and would cook for ourselves (when home from boarding school), but every morning and every evening we'd get together at the island in the kitchen for a cuppa with my dad. Jansus your meal does sound yum. Im doing a sweer n sour chicken recipe I found yesterday and having some rice since Ive not had many points today.0 -
BNS chips are easy - there are recipes everywhere.
I have cracked the peeling thing - got one of those peelers that you pull across the veg, it takes the skin off really easily.
Then I chop the top and bottom off it, cut it in half heightways, then cut the seeded bit in half lengthways and scoop out the soft stuff.
Then I chop the bits into big fat chip sizes, put them in a plastic freezer bag and sprinkle in some pepper, chilli powder and some paprika. Tehn give it a good shake before emptying it onto the baking tray.I normally buy a BIG bns and put half of the prepared stuff into a tupperware box to have in the next day or two. Yuo can buy pre prepared wedges, but they're a bit on the small side for chips.
The oven is preheating to 220 while I'm doing this.
Then I put them on a baking tray I've sprayed with 'spray light' oil, then once I've laid the chips out I spray them a little bit aswell.
Then I cook them in the top of the oven for about 15 minutes, but I check them after 10 to see how they're doing.
No point snack. Remember sweet potatoes are lovely, but they do cost you points.;)

That's quite funny, I'm about to get married too and i've realised that my fiance is a grumpy sod, just like my dad. Guess it's true what they say, although i'd rather not think about it.0 -

Thanks so much for this! Will have to attempt making them and coax the OH into trying..she#s a fussy !!!!!! when it comes to veg..and I know for a fact she has a strong dislike for sweet potato
I've only ever tried bns in stews and whatnot from the WW cookbooks..and i found it to be rather yummy, so roasted with some chilli sounds good to me:heartsmil Proud Weight Watcher :heartsmilStart Weight: 15st 13lb Current Weight: 10st 5lbTotal Loss to Date: 5st 8lb- - -Current 2011 Goal: Lose 8lb by 25th DecemberLoss This Week: -3 Total Loss 2011: -30 -
Afternoon everyone =D am so proud of myself today, since i started ww two weeks ago ive been staying away from fast food places (that i love) anyway obviously i wouldnt be able to last without eating something along those lines eventually so today for lunch we went to KFC and i planned ahead and had the chicken wing piece, half a regular fries and a hot wing with a sachet of ketchup all for 6.5pts!! so worth it!! cant believe im on a diet and eating KFC chicken. I love ww!! lol.0

That sounds so good right now...although I had to give up all fast food a long time ago as it disagrees with me entirely. Once or twice a year, usually when I'm a bit hungover, i'll convince myself it's ok but it never is, the last time I had a mcdonalds I was sick on a bus!0

Awww i havent had mcdonalds in a long time.
Its just good to know what i can have when im out and about and to make the right choices. =D My problem in the past is i pick such restrictive diets which if you follow them you lose weight but obviously as you can only eat certain foods you get bored and end up cheating and gaining weight. This way i feel like im in control and nothing is restricted to me =D i know i keep saying it but i really feel like its just clicking for me this time. Its so strange.0 -
One of the good things about BNS is that you don't actually need to peel it, the skin gets much much softer during cooking and is quite tasty so skip that stage if you want, makes it an awful lot easier!
I want to make a plug for the humble egg! They are only 1.5 points each and I think 2 1/2 for 2 and you can cook them so many ways. Just had 2 fried in frylight spray (free, recommend having a bottle handy!) on a bed of rocket with some fried tomatoes and some homemade tomato and chilli jam, mmmm. Also love having an omlette, if you use only the whites you can have them free so it is a great idea if you have overindulged with some mushrooms, tomatoes etc for a free meal.God is good, all the time

Eggs are nice and filling and full of protein too, so they help keep you feeling full for longer - only trouble is I'm usually tempted to scamble them and have them on buttered toast which really makes the points mount up.
I like fried egg on gammon use the points for that and have a big side salad, I also like tagliatelle cooked then have beaten up quark and egg stirred through it - a nice way to have something different on my pasta, and the points work out very reasonable too. Since I don't like tomatoes I'm sometimes a bit limited on the pasta sauce front.:rolleyes:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
