I'm terrible for being unmotivated, but I've found that if i set myself a realistic goal for the week/month/next 6 months..I can manage to stick to it.
I definately find being on the w.w 'points' system very very helpful, it makes me feel in control of what I'm eating as i know if i want to snack on naughty things, I have to make up for it by eating things with less or 0 points in to balance my daily allowance.
I'm not great at motivating myself for exercise, but i bought myself a pedometer and try to reach the 10,000 suggested steps a day. I like to keep track of how many steps I've done along with how many points i've consumed because it helps me link between bad and good days. (I managed to clock up a whopping 32,000 steps in 1 day @ the halloween party in disney florida in september..magic!)
It's all about eating in moderation, changing your usual high calorie/sat fat foods for ones that are similar but contain less points. I find w.w foods can be expensive sometimes, so i purchase Tesco's own 'light choices' range which works out a fair bit cheaper on some products. the 'Light Choices' range Tesco sell comes with the w.w points total per portion worked out for you on the packaging which is great!! :j
You just have to believe in youself, don't make ridiculous unrealistic goals, and don't be too hard on yourself - even just a half lb loss is fantastic! :T:heartsmil Proud Weight Watcher :heartsmilStart Weight: 15st 13lb Current Weight: 10st 5lbTotal Loss to Date: 5st 8lb- - -Current 2011 Goal: Lose 8lb by 25th DecemberLoss This Week: -3 Total Loss 2011: -30 -

for those of you who think they are rounding down rather than up - they aren't, they are simply rounding to the NEAREST half point. Some you'll win, some you'll lose but it should work itself out in the end.;)
It's the same with yoghurts - 1/2 pts each, two of the same flavour is 1.5
Guess who always takes two different flavours to work with her?:o
ps Don't make the BNS chips with carrots, they don't cook as quickly as BNS does.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Do you have the recipe for the BNS chips you could share with me please? Right well I went for my meal last night - trying to point it now arrrgggghhh!!
Chicken Liver Parfait with Tomato Chutney and some bread - was so yummy, left a tiny bit of parfait though - going to guess at 5 for the bread and 6 for everything else - hopefully this is on the high side??
Rump Steak - was a tiny portion came with three new potatoes but were cooked into mini jackets, one bit of brocoli, some red cabbage stuff and carmelised onion - going to guess at 6 for the steak, 2 for the onion, 2 for the cabbage and 3 for the potatos..... so total 13
Apple Torte - I didnt like it that much, and sat and thought I dont want to waste valuable points on a desert Im not keen on so ate two mouthfulls, it was seriously buttery and horribly sweet though so going to allow - 5pts just in case! Hopefully again this is to many but Id rather be on the safe side!!
So then for the whole meal that makes 29 so Ill say 30! Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
I had only eaten 5.5 before I went, and had saved 4.5 so far so Im 12 points over for the week so need to save 4 today, tomorrow and tuesday to make my points right over the week.0 -
I just made a Sunday morning cooked breakfast for 5 points, and it was YUMMY!
Poached Egg (1.5 points) on toast (0.5 points) with a tiny bit of flora light (0.5 points)
Two smoked turkey rashers (1 point)
200g of tinned Spaghetti (1.5 points)
And with a cuppa - I pour out half a pint of skimmed milk at the beginning of the day and make sure my tea doesn't go over that and stick 0.5 points on at the end0 -

I think the first thing to realise is, that unless you're Madonna and can afford a personal trainer to come and wake you up at 6am, make you do press ups and prise the chocolate out of your hands, then you are the only person who can do anything about your weight. There is no magical pill, no quick fix, I won't lie - to achieve that kind of weight loss is hard work, and usually involves changing your attitudes and your lifestyle completely - a scary prospect.
No amount of being upset, moaning or blaming external factors (I am not saying you do this, I am just saying it is very common) will come to anything, and if you have no motivation then it's a lost cause. Weightwatchers can help you to gain that motivation; either because you are embarrassed to be weighed if you think you've put on weight, you don't want to let your leader down, or maybe you are there with friends and treating it a bit competitively!
I really would suggest you give it a try, at about £18 a month it's not the cheapest way you can lose weight but it's not the most expensive either and the encouragement you get should help you to get motivated. I know I sounds like I'm trying to sell it but believe me I'm not - I'm just passing on my honest opinions combined with a little amateur psychology (knew that degree would come in handy one day!) and although I've not been doing it that long - a week to be precise - I've seen amazing results (someone I know has lost 6 stone in under a year!) in people who previously used fad-dieting and their weight went up and down, they never had much energy and it didn't do any good in the long run.0 -
Morning everyone (just).
I finished yesterday off with 1 point to save to fix curry night the other night. Was SO good yesterday. DF was munching on Niknaks and DS on chocolate coins and I didnt touch a bit :jVery funny thing-I dont know if you recall me saying what fussy eaters I have in my house? Well this morning when I made my oats that I made yesterday, DF asked for some too!Normally if he has breakfast its only special k with red berries. Even if I buy a different fruit version he wont eat it.So my brekkie points were 5.5.
Fran thats a good idea about the milk-I might do that just so I can have a few cups with milk (even if I discovered I do like it sans milk)-how many cups do you usually manage?
YWG you'd have had a giggle at me last night then. I thought the same thing and so DF suggested I use the veg peeler to slice them-which I did. I had the timer on for 10 minutes and they turned into little black blobs. Will have to get some butternut squash.0 -

Well I don't really know - I don't count. But I can tell you I'm a tea-fiend and I've never gone over my half pint. I don't have a lot of milk and am trying to have more herbal teas as well but there is no point denying yourself the things you love, and tea is my favourite thing in the world.0
