( No of course it has nothing to do with them, now who is it that runs the DWP ):rotfl:

But it has nothing to do with the question that the OP asked! As I said, if you want to discuss MP's and gvt policy then start a thread in DT.

You are correct, MP's are not claiming benefits, and therefore they can do as they wish with their money. Furthermore, whether we agree with their allowable expenses or not (I am lucky enough to have an MP who does not abuse their generous allowances, so it is not so relevant to me), the accounts of MP's are publicly available should we choose to look at them, and therefore they are not hiding any income or outgoings.

And neither has your reply got anything to do with the OP's original question, but as always threads get side tracked, and it was you who chose to answer the question above. so perhaps you too would like to answer such questions on another thread, instead of just using my posts as an off topic example.:D

You are just being silly now.

I have no wish to start another discussion on the matter, as I have no problem with the financial activities of my MP.

Please, if you are going to reply, can it be on topic?

So it's a case of one rule for you and one rule for me then, so in your words i'm being silly for pointing out the fact that you too took this thread off topic by answering a question that had no relevance to the OP's original question.

If you find the need to use bullying tactics such as only reply if it's on topic, calling me silly for answering your post, and using me as an example of going off topic, then i really do feel sorry for you.
I have some beers in the fridge, perhaps i should post you some, that way you too can chill out.;)

now that is a very immature post

Not really, it's just an extension of the argument put forward by the poster I quoted.
It's a very simple way to test whether the argument is a valid one.

It's pretty obvious that no-one would agree with this, so therefore we all agree that people should not be able to pass money to their dependant kids without any restriction at all.
Much like the other post on the other thread, we now just have to establish what level of money is ok to pass on without penalty.

And much like the other thread - people earning £110 a week pay tax. Should that go towards paying people with savings that they've passed on to their kids so they don't lose out?

People should remember that every time we *think* someone should be able to keep some money whilst on means tested benefits, someone else is paying tax to support those benefits. And some of those taxpayers are earning very low wages.

And perhaps YOU should remember that every time someone else is paying tax, that this Government, which is the same Government that controls the DWP, throws millions of tax payers money into a failing Bank and a needless War.

    flowers,

Please, please keep your posts on topic. As said earlier, if you want to talk about MP's and their expenses, please start a new thread in DT.

Before you make any 'forum police' comment, please refer to Martin's post about the purpose of the Benefits Board.

No point trying to dig yourself out of the hole you made. The post about the duke and duchess was just silly.

It was exactly as intended. If you see it as silly then it perhaps has eluded you. The post about the Duke and Duchess was using the argument proposed by the poster I quoted. Perhaps it was their post that was "silly"?

You don't understand that taking a stated principle to extremes is one way to test it?

Anyway, the point has been made. You seem more interested in making points about the posts rather than points about the benefit issues they refer to.
