Sky + Refurb Deal

Options
We have had Sky Digital for quite a few years now and have been thinking about upgrading to Sky + but was annoyed at the cost for existing members. My husband has read on a forum that existing members can upgrade to a Sky + refurb for £49 fitted. The set top box might be a refurbished model or it might be brand new. He has just phoned Sky and told them that a friend of ours has got this offer and was it still available. They were very cautious and asked if we were unhappy with the service and thinking of cancelling our subscription. He said yes, we were thinking of cancelling and the girl then said, if you are thinking of cancelling, then yes, the deal is still available and we can do you this deal for £49.

They will try and sell you multi-room for an extra £10 per month but you don't need to do this. The only thing you do need is subscription to 2 premium channels, otherwise you will have to pay £10 a month Sky + subscription.

Can't thank you enough for this post. I have been wanting sky plus for ages. I downgraded from the full movie package about six months ago and went onto the bog standard family pack. When I first got through to the chap at sky he was really off, insisting that I had to have multi room. I told him I had no use for it and wanted to cancel so he said, "Fine"!! I was then put on hold and got fed up of waiting so put the phone down. He rang me back all sweetness and light and said his colleague in cancellations would be able to help me. She offered me the deal straight away. I just resubscribed to movie world and got my sky plus for £49. You are a STAR!!!

    Many thanks for this post.
i just threatened to cancel and got a 'BRAND NEW' sky+ with no multi room installed for £65!
They tried to get me to to pay the additional £10 a month but i stuck to my guns and told them to cancel my subscription. Did the trick, i will now use my other box as a freeview.
does anyone no how this is connected as a freeview box? does it need to be connected to the satalite dish or a tv arial?

When sky fit you skyplus they will usually change your LMB on your dish to a quad LMB.This means that there will be four outlets. They will use two of them for your skyplus.
You will need to run a cable from one of the free outlets to use your freeview box independently from your skybox.Ask the nice man from sky.He/she might do it for you for a few shackles. You will also have to get a free to view viewing card from sky.

  • Just a note of warning the link above i.e. freesatcard.co.uk is not an official sky link.I am not being picky but you can order the card direct from sky ..same price and know that the transaction is safe.
The clue in the above link is that it says the card is currently unavailable until later in August. If it was sky the cards would always be available so just be careful.

I think you can get a card from Sky by phoning the number on this link.

So if i understand this, they dont take your existing sky box away, and you can use that to pick up the free satellite channels in another room, if you run a new cable in....Will Sky definetly change the LMB to a quad LMB, or is there a chance they won't?

I install sky for a living and have done for 11 years. They will change the L.N.B. for a quad,it used to be a twin but nowadays its a quad. This will leave to spare outputs after the skyplus uses 2.
