I sold 8 items last night, and much to my amazement, all the buyers paid within around 2 hours of the auctions ending, normally, they come in dribs and drabs through the week and I have to open at least one dispute for no payment....

Not much, I know, but another £2 profit to add to my total.
    More stuff ending tomorrow.
More stuff being listed tomorrow, too, so we'll see how that goes.
It's slow but I'll get there in the end. :)

I've heard a lot of US buyers saying they won't post abroad because of a few problems - But I've found more problems with buyers in the UK.
If you have proof of postage (receipt), offer to post it to him/her so they can make a claim and explain fraudulent claims - That usually stops them from complaining! Also, I'm putting in all my listings a note to say I'm not to blaim if an item doesn't arrive, but will help them file a claim with the Post Office.
You could always file a counter-claim for non-payment?

Thanks Rosa. The buyer did pay, 2weeks after auction ended mind, so I can't file for non-payment. I now also have to resign myself to receiving negative feedback from buyer. On the off chance that he is trying it on thought I have no placed a watch on the item I sold him just incase it comes up for sale.

Well done for your first three sales! :T

I have £70 of auctions at the moment, yoohoo, still a lot to list and a lot to sell to meet my target though. I use to go around the flat thinking, what can be sold? and now it's more like, is there any good reason not to sell this :D
Got rid of all my credit card debt, reduced crazy utilities bills, learned to budget, and now trading down to a smaller property. Lurking around the DIY forum.

My buyers are finally paying within 24 hours of winning!
I don't word it as bluntly as that - But I make it clear that I don't take returns and once an item has been handed over at the Post Office counter I have no control over it. Of course, if my buyers wish to pay the extra to sign for an item, they can, but I won't force it on anyone. All these extras the PO charge to make sure an item arrives? They should make sure it arrives without a massive price-tag. My feedback's fantastic because I'm upfront with buyers and have helped buyers claim against the PO for items that haven't arrived, and have received positive feedback in the process.
It wasn't a false claim for non-payment - It was on PayPal's recommendation when I'd received feedback for an item that "hadn't arrived" but I'd refunded the buyer.
But I've never really had a problem with my statement, I've read it on other listings and accepted it.
Back to sales - my BIN prices are doing the trick, but I've also discovered the joy of BIN or Best Offer, which is working a treat :D

You have been lucky so far..buyers are getting much more savvy nowadays and you might run into problems. Any tracking or insurance is only for the sellers benefit, it does not assist the buyer at all. If an item fails to arrive all the buyer has to do is start a paypal chargeback and get a full refund from you, even without your agreement.

Forcing a buyer to go to a chargeback means it is more likely they will leave a negative, at least if you refund upfront, through gritted teeth if necessary the buyer feels better towards you and is less likely to leave a negative.

Just remember buyers can get a full refund via paypal which is taken from your account unless a seller can prove delivery..there is no escape clause or get out from that, that is how it works.
