My boyfriend had his claim stopped and a new pack sent out....me i phoned them and was asked the usual....d.o.b...n.i.n.o....then i was asked the date i first made a claim....which was sometime in 1999...couldnt remember exact date...then childrend d.o.b.....then when was i last paid and what amount...to the bloody penny....i didnt know:confused: ...i was told i failed the security...goodbye....

So off i trundle to the bank to get amount paid to the bloody penny...and ring them again....

I was asked all the same questions and got to the amount paid bit feeling chuffed with meself cus i had it on hand......

then i was asked what exact date i completed my form back some 9 years ago..needless to say i failed the security:mad:

I just want to end my claim.....

The money is building up in my bank account and its so tempting to use it...what do i do:confused:

The current Tax Credits system was not in place in 1999, it didnt come in to effect until 2003. If you have continually claimed without your claim ever being stopped as a partner has moved in/out then you should give the answer as 2003.

Sorry also meant to add that it is not the exact date we ask for it is the year claimed, which can still be hard to remember but a lot easier that trying to remember the exact date.
And please understand that we are just as frustrated as the people failing on the other end of the phone, i am always silently willing people on the othe end of the phone to answer the next question correctly!

I would like to comment on what you said about" the exact date is not asked for" but it is i have said the year and month of my claim but i keep getting asked for the exact date the form was filled in.
I still don't know and all these problems will just continue ,i am now starting work so god only knows what trouble i will have just to notify them about that
  • Crazyangel, if you are asked for the exact date and not the year you should tell the adviser you want to speak to a team leader to make a complaint.

You should not be asked for the exact date.

I phoned tonight as I recently had a small payrise and I had no problem with the security questions...they are no different to the ones that the CSA ask me really.

I was asked for the employers PAYE code but said didn't know and 'ask me another!!" the lady was laughing and then asked me who my childcare provider is.

They are only asking questions for our protection after the CB fiasco (btw did anyone notice that the 'apology' letter also had your NI number on it? talk about compounding the problem!!!) and quite frankly I would give them my inside leg measurement to protect me!!!!:rotfl:

If they ask for the date then ask for another question to be asked I would say to save getting in a guddle
  • Dont know if this was made public but there were even more problems regarding the CB fiasco - hundreds of people were sent apology letters with someone elses NI number on it but their own name and address!

I always get asked my paye ref number and always say, i aint got a clue so they ask me another question and i get through fine.
I'm not working now but due to getting told 3 differeing stories i cant even be bothered to waste my time phoning them as it just stresses me out, i'm gonna hopefully get help from a lone parent advisor at the JCP.

I phoned yesterday and thankfully I wasn`t asked the date I claimed as I haven`t a clue what year it was. I will need to ring them in a few weks time to advise them of a change of circumstance and hope that that question isn`t one of them. If so and I fail I will have to send a letter recorded delivery. I used 01355 359007 after 6pm and got through straightaway.

The question about the year you first claimed is a pain, you hate being asked it and we hate having to ask it, but sometimes we do. We have a list of questions we have to ask in a specific order, if a question doesn't apply then we skip it. Many people never get asked the year question, but when it has to be asked it does have to be asked.

Each advisor is now checked daily to ensure they are complying with the security procedures, we simply cannot bypass the questions no matter how much you beg. We really don't like having to fail people on security, but your details and our jobs depend on it.
