Tax Credit's I can't get through the security questions

Instead of getting your knickers in a twist on the phone, why not just write a letter?
You'd all soon be complaining if there was not enough security. (Like you already have over the Child Benefit discs).
Although I agree it should be made clear how they want you to give the date (i.e. month and year or year only, first claim or current claim etc.).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have already tried the letter but after two i have had no reply, and it is fast approaching the dead line to make my claim for my son,so it's money lost and to be honest i am so sick of it and have had nothing but unhelpful staff on the phone ,maybe they are the minority but never the less it is all i have got through too, and i have never once complained about any lost child benefit discs!0 -
What about trying phoning and ask if it's being recorded, then regardless of whether they can get your details up or not tell them what you are trying to and ask them to make a note of it and to post you an updated form.
You could say on the phone you are fulfilling your obligation to inform them and that the present security questions are impossible to get through. And/or ask to speak to someone higher up to see how to proceed.Torgwen.....................

So I give up.
You can try saynoto0870.com, they have a landline number for the national call centre i use this one.

AAAHHHH!!!!!!
Do you have your first Tax Credit award of the year that gives the full details of your circumstanes and personal information? This may show if there is incorrect information held on the system. If it has incorrect information, you need to give this "wrong answer" to pass security.
Can I ask which benefits you receive?
How many times have you called? There are only 5 different years you could give as the year you applied for tax credits so you should get through on one of these calls.0 -

This is not quite correct. An award notice does not give your employer name or PAYE ref number.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Does your initial cy award not show this? If you have an annual renewal it should also show on that as you need to check your details are shown as correct before signing and returning it.
In this specific case there is no mention of employer anyway so I am puzzled as to which other question she could be answering wrong. And as I said 5 attempts at security should be all that needs to be done to ensure passing security (or 6 if you want to include 2008 I suppose).0 -

This is not possibly going to work. Changes will only be made if security is passed. This would also not be a defense if an overpayment was to happen.
Also, a supervisor (Team Leader) is not allowed to go through the questions again as security can only be attempted once per call. They can take a complaint call but they will not access the claim.
The only other thing I can advise doing is sending a letter with all of the correct details that should be held by TCO to them as well as the change that needs to be made. You will need to make sure to include your National Insurance number, full name (with middle names), DOB and address. Also include your current empoyment status - job/benefits. Even if you can, include a photocopy of an award notice sent to you. Send it recorded delivery and keep a hold of the slip from the post office as proof you have notified TCO.0 -
No the initial CY award does not show this.
Annual renewals show the number of hours worked not place of employment.
As youare aware the 1st question after name DOB etc is 'what is your employment status?' If you answer employed you will be asked employer and paye number. If you don't know/get wrong this information then are unsure of 1st year of claim then security is failed
If you work for a small ish company maybe called jo bloggs plumbers but JoBloggs plumbers uses John Doe accountants to administer payroll there is a good chance that John Doe acountants will be the employer name held on the tax credit system.
Coyote - when you state you work for TCO do you work in preston processing claims or are you an advisor in a call centre??MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
