I've used coupons in Asda plenty of times for products that I haven't purchased. I've been told that you can get up to a third of your shopping off and they don't accept coupons of more than £2 unless you've bought the product.

Asda in Hull refused my internet coupons so I emailed HO to ask about their policy. Here's a copy of an email about their internet coupon policy but part of it also refers to their general coupons. It doesn't mention any limits in amounts though.
I'm sorry to hear you were refused to use the internet coupon.

I've looked at the policy and here is what it said:

    Internet Coupon Acceptance
The 21st century method is to make available coupons via the internet rather
than manually distribute paper coupons to households. We do accept coupons
that are downloaded and printed from the internet (not photocopied once
printed). Stores need to know that the same stringent conditions apply to
internet coupons as the old style manufacturer coupons:-

¤ The coupon is in date and has not passed the expiry date

¤ They are not specific to different retailer (Not ASDA e.g. Boots)

    ¤ We stock the product

All accepted internet coupons attract the usual handling charge which becomes store income.

One temporary rule which remains current policy until a more comprehensive
    policy is formulated is: -

Only one internet coupon per product item in any single transaction - unless
the customer actually buys the product in multiples and the amount of
coupons tendered corresponds with the same amount of items purchased.

The above does not include Kiosk

I suggest you print this off and show this to the customer service manager
so they are aware of this policy however I'm disappointed they don't already
    know.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I went to Asda, got £2 airwick voucher as you already know this, so i want airwick crystalair as the stock they mention on vouchers are there, so i went to check out, they refuse because it is not match the voucher, and they keep the voucher! other day i went to self check out, they seal the coupon slot, and they still refuse, i just email to asda now and wait for their reply. they make a lot of trouble to check all my shopping bags and said you did not bought the item match the voucher, they even unlock the coupon slot and read the voucher and put it back instead return it, they make a lot of profit!
