Last week, used 1 voucher at ASDA IOD. SA didn't allow it coz I didn't purchase the product. I got her to check with supervisor which then went OK. :j

Today, I had 4-5 coupons at the SAME ASDA. Usual story, SA didn't allow & I got him to check with supervisor. This time, the supervisor DIDN'T allow ANY as I didn't purchase any items!

I just don't understand how it was OK last time & not allowed this time!
Anyone shop at ASDA IOD & have problems using their coupons?

Today I went to IoD Asda and was told I could only use money-off coupons if I had a letter off Head Office.

Has anyone heard of this policy please? Seems dumb.... HO says yes you have to take letter to store... why not issue a blanket policy everywhere???

Both Tesco and Asda (Llansamlet) have refused to take the value of vouchers off my general shopping recently saying 'sorry, it's a new policy - we can't take vouchers unless you're buying the product'.
why is this a surprise ? it usually CLEARLY states on the coupon that it can only be redeemed against the actual product.

My local asda and tesco informed that i could use coupons even if i didn't buy the goods. I use up to 4 (internet and real) coupons in one small shop (£5-£20). the best shop was tesco bletchley taking as much coupon as i want :j i wish i could go there often about 15 miles from me. :)

It's a surprise because it's been Asda's policy for some time that you can use money-off coupons against your shopping even if you don't buy the product - as long as they SELL the product then you can use the coupon. No worries - I just bought a pack of nappies and used 5x£1 vouchers to pay for them (DS's baby due in a few months).

I have had issues in both TESCO AND ASDA here in Nottingham. It depends on who you go to and what mood they're in. ASDA in hyson green are a pain. If you go to the self sevrice check outs there is a right little witch on there who refuses any type of internet coupon point blank. She even checked with the manager etc and I stood waiting for over 15 minutes for them to completely refuse me. and yet i went to the check out to buy an item and that lady took the coupon without any issues.
In tesco carlton the other day I used the self service check out and got stopped and the coupons I used were cancelled even though I have an actual copy of their coupon policy. Its a bit mad. if they work then I guess its a bonus.

I feel I must contribute to this thread

I am a loyal and dedicated ASDA Stafford checkout colleague with 4yrs service

    You can redeem coupons if

    * We sell the item your trying to save money on

    * The customer actually BUYS the item they are trying to save money on

    * Coupon must be in date

    * Coupon is not that of a TESCO / Sainsburys / Morrisons etc

Also customers are not allowed to use coupons on our 8 self scan machines - The reason being is that if you have for example a £1 off huggies nappies coupon and the colleague has their back turned or is helping somebody else - the first customer may scan the coupon 3/4x when in fact they only have 1 coupon...

To my MSE ASDA Checkout Colleagues

It has been mentioned on the huddle recently about the change in coupon policy...It appears however that not every store is singing from the same hymn sheet...Perhaps it should be made clear in a 10am Managers meeting and a poster put up on every checkout next to the challenge 25 poster regarding the policy I mentioned above...

Many thanks for the info - are you aware of any limit on the number or amount of coupons you can use? Others on this thread have suggested no more than 3 of the same one, and certain percentages of your bill (i.e. 10% of the total). It would be good to hear what is being passed down by managers to the staff.

    Regards.

Our Asda(Chatham) told me last year, ythey were no longer taking coupons unless you bought the item .
Previously their policy had been money off coupons for anything as long as they stocked it (but you didnt need to actually purchase it).
